Fragrance news: Frederic Malle Editions de Parfums New Ancillary Products

Frederic_malle_boutique

As a Frédéric Malle representative from Barneys confirmed, Editions de Parfums line will soon feature several new products, including Angéliques Sous la Pluie cream and L’Eau d’Hiver lotion. Frédéric Malle lotions I have tried thus far were very impressive. They offer the same wonderful scent as the eponymous fragrances, in addition to wonderful emollient properties. Angéliques Sous la Pluie composed by Jean-Claude Ellena is a sparkling combination of effervescence and bitterness. It would be interesting to see whether the cream would extend the tenacity of this fairly light fragrance.

Moreover, a new home fragrance based on Vétiver Extraordinaire will become a part of the line sometime this year. The line is available at Taizo in Cannes, Dries van Noten in Antwerp, Natan/Treize in Brussels, Barneys New York, Isetan in Tokyo, Flinders Way Boudoir in Melbourne as well as directly from Editions de Parfums.

  • Sisonne: Dear V, I can definitely see the need for a L´Eau d´Hiver lotion as I imagine it to be very soft & cosy. Angéliques sous la Pluie is one of my favourites from the FM range & so I´m really curious about the cream, too. August 26, 2005 at 8:34am Reply

  • Laura: Since I’ve morphed into a l’Artisan fan (well, more an Olivia Giacobetti fan) I now want to retry some of these FMs! Your vivid writing is to blame, of course. I’m getting sleeepy, verrrry sleeeeeepppppppy. August 26, 2005 at 6:53am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Dear L, if I am at fault, I shall take the blame. 🙂 I think that you would like these fragrances in particular. August 26, 2005 at 9:40pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Dear C, I cannot wait! Let me know what you think when you manage to sample them.

  • MC: Now that’s interesting news! I’ve often wondered what a Vetiver Extraordinaire home scent would be like: depthless and mossy like Malle’s Vetiver Soap, or earthy and peppery like his base lavante?

After a couple of years fiddling and sampling, I seem to have settled on Vetiver Extraordinaire as my signature. When it was released (2002?) I immediately fell in love with it and wore nothing else for a year or so. Then, a break while I experimented with other fragrances, and now I think I have been wearing VE non-stop for 18 months! (Hmm. My daughter is that age. I wonder if the two are connected?)

In any case I still enjoy sampling new and old scents – but find it quite liberating to grab my old reliable vetiver each morning rather than choose between four or five second-rankers! August 29, 2005 at 6:51am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Mike, I do wonder about the room fragrance. I love Vetiver Extraordinaire, which combines the best elements of vetiver, and I can understand why you are drawn to it. I sometimes spray it on my wrist and inhale the radiance of it every now and then. Vetiver is an amazing scent, pure olfactory bliss for me. August 29, 2005 at 1:25pm Reply

  • Tara: I was fortunate to receive a sample of the Angeliques Sous la Pluie cream from the FM store in Paris (courtesy of my travling BF) and can report that it is indeed luxurious and true to the fragrance. All of the creams I’ve tried (Musc Ravageur, Iris Poudre, Lipstick Rose and Angeliques) have been highly fragranced and very rich. August 29, 2005 at 8:02pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Tara, thank you for inspiring another craving! I have high expectations for this cream, especially since the original fragrance is among my favourites. August 29, 2005 at 8:04pm Reply
