Fragrance News: Armani Privé Amethyst / Cuir Améthyste

The newest addition to Armani Privé Amethyst, according to the American, or Cuir Améthyste, according to the French press releases is described by the Armani catalogue as “velvety as the skin of a golden fruit, warm as vanilla pulp, ripe and sensuous as a sunny wood.” The bottle will be capped by a hazy violet gemstone cap, like other Privé fragrances. The scent is slated to be a spring release for Armani and will appear in stores around March-April of 2006.

  • Christina H.: I like the sound of this new one.I am beginning to wonder if what started out as a small personal collection for himself(Armani),he decided that there was a bigger market to be had catering to women,as this definitely seems much more along the lines of a female fragrance. If this is the case,I’m happy and would only look forward to seeing a rose fragrance produced also! • Victoria O: Hummm that feels more topaz than amethyst. I was hoping for something cool with violet. Since it is my birthstone I have a vested interest.

  • BoisdeJasmin: V, yes, it certainly does not sound cool or violet tinged at all. Still, it might be interesting. January 4, 2006 at 2:51pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Christina, yes, I would love to have Christine Nagel create another interesting rose (hers is my favourite 2000 et une Rose and Prive Ambre Soie)! January 4, 2006 at 2:52pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: M, me too! Sounds very nice, doesn’t it? January 4, 2006 at 2:53pm Reply

  • Christina H.: I am amazed at how you know who made what!I had no idea that she made 2000 et Une Rose! This year I must invest in some perfume books if I plan on making this a serious hobby! January 4, 2006 at 2:55pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Christina, I have no idea how I am able to remember all of this, but it is very interesting to compare and contrast various fragrances made by individual perfumers and to see what similarities they might have. January 4, 2006 at 2:58pm Reply

  • Christina H.: Giggling at Laura’s comment.I think Laura is quite right! We’re not dealing with any typical perfume aficionado here! January 5, 2006 at 9:07am Reply

  • Laura: I can’t WAIT to try this one. To my nose and brain (are they connected?), Eau de Jade is one of the most elegant and subtly distinctive scents of recent memory. Maybe this one will be comparable. January 5, 2006 at 4:19am Reply

  • Laura: Chirstina obviously doesn’t know she’s corresponding with someone who has a 26 volume encyclopedia for a brain—and that’s just the right lobe. January 5, 2006 at 4:21am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: L, I really like Eau de Jade, and I think that it has rendered the crisp quality of crushed green leaves beautifully. Very elegant and sparkling. I hope that Amethyst will not disappoint either. January 5, 2006 at 5:40pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Oh, I wish it were true! You are both too kind! January 5, 2006 at 5:41pm Reply

  • peter: Sounds like it might be more feminine than the other Prive fragrances but I’m still interested to try it. January 5, 2006 at 10:38pm Reply

  • Alex: Hi everyone! Last Saturday i was in Milan just to see how sales can change a city and the people living in…and at the end, i walked in Armani Accessories Boutique and i bought the new Violet Armani Prive Parfume. i spent 30 minutes to decide if i had to buy the blue one ( i can’t remember the name)or the new one…but at the end i did it! After four days my wrist still smells of this beautiful scent..and i took showers!! I think the next time i’ll buy the blue one!
I asked to the shop staff if these parfumes will be never sell in the “normal” shop and they told me NO…so, if you think to buy one, remember that you’ll fin ONLY in the Giorgio Armani Boutique (NOT in the Emporio Armani!) and if you are interested in the price, it is (here in Italy) 150.00 Euros.
If you wanna but the violet one, remember that the little violet stone they give you with the (wonderful) box of the parfume has not still deliverd cos the parfume has just be released for the Christmas Time…in fact they gave me the blu stone…and in the form i completed for the staff i’ve written that i wait the violet stone…but i think no one will send me home this! • BoisdeJasmin: Alex, thank you for the information! Glad that the fragrance turned out to be a success, even though you do not have the right cap. Maybe, you should call the boutique again later and ask for the violet stone. January 10, 2006 at 1:08pm Reply
