Perfume News: Baghari by Robert Piguet

Robertpiguetbaghari

Robert Piguet is reissuing Baghari, a soft floral melody originally created in 1950, just a year before the renowned fashion designer had to close the house due to his failing health. The original perfumer behind Baghari was Francis Fabron, the perfumer who created Balenciaga Le Dix, Givenchy L’Interdit, and Nina Ricci L’Air du Temps.

The new version is going to be reorchestrated by Aurélien Guichard, the creator of Bond No. 9 Chinatown and Nina Ricci Love in Paris. The composition will include notes of bergamot, aldehydes, violet, neroli, jasmine, Bulgarian rose, rose centifolia, iris, vetiver, amber, vanilla, musk. Baghari will be available in the fall of 2006. I have the original version, and I am looking forward to comparing it to the reochestrated one.

  • violetnoir: I love all of the fragrances you mentioned, V, so I have a feeling that I will really like this one.

  • LoveLanvin: Excellent news ! I’m assuming the presentation will be the same ? Do you know if they will be doing the full range from extrait to powder ? June 20, 2006 at 10:15am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: R, the original is soft and gentle floral, with a sheer aldehydic veil. If you like the aforementioned fragrances, you will love Baghari. However, I have not tried the reissue, therefore I do not know what it is going to be like. June 20, 2006 at 6:12pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: The presentation is the same as Fracas and Bandit. I am not sure about the range. I do hope that the extrait will be available. My vintage Baghari is the extrait. June 20, 2006 at 6:13pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Galia, I am very much looking forward to your thoughts on these Piguet fragrances! I have tried Visa (I have a bottle of extrait de parfum), but not Calypso. Baghari is indeed better in the parfum than in the EDT, but if I were to name a favourite Fabron fragrance, it would not make it on it. Nevertheless, like you, I am excited to try the new version. I also hear that Lanvin Rumeur is about to be reissued as well. June 20, 2006 at 9:31pm Reply

  • ezhinka: Dear Vika,
Two old perfumes from Piguet just arrived from an auction: Visa and Calypso. I will share my impressions a bit later. See “parfumanechka” tomorrow 🙂
I find it very inspiring, that Baghari is relaunched. I had vintage edt, which I didn’t like and cannot associate with the olfactory notes of the new version. But I will try new version 🙂 June 20, 2006 at 8:23pm Reply

  • LoveLanvin: RUMEUR ??!!!!!! You’re killing me – I’m having heart palpitations ! Any news on SCANDAL (my HG) a gorgeous floral/leather ? June 21, 2006 at 9:37am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: L, I would love to try Scandal, but it has eluded me so far. No news on it being reintroduced, but I will keep dreaming. 🙂 June 21, 2006 at 12:28pm Reply
