Taking page from the vintage principle, Thierry Mugler Angel shall receive a new treatment. As the press release explains, Angel La Part des Anges “is macerated in a cherry wood cask for a more subtle fragrance. In this experiment, the Perfume Extract comes into contact with elements that are usually incompatible in the process of making a perfume: air and time. The wood allows the Perfume Extract to “breathe” and with the air and the passing of days, it is gradually transformed into the famous “part” or “share” which delights the Angels. And as with Eaux-de-vie, time reduces the volume to an Extract whose fragrance transcends the original.”
The Swarowski crystal decorated .33oz bottle ($220) will be available in November 2007 at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Saks5thAvenue and Bloomingdales.

Flora: Oh boy – I hope no one falls for this one! Sounds like a marketing ploy to appeal to both wine snobs and perfume snobs. $220 for 1/3 of an ounce? Nice bottle, but jeez, gimme a break! This is not the way I thought they were going to go with ridiculous marketing ploys for the lastest Angel spinoff – I would have maybe guessed the patchouli blended with some special, moonlight-dried, organic “black gold” cocoa worth more than “real gold”. They are trying the Martha Stewart fruit-cake route instead, it appears. I thought Angel was boozy and calorie-laden enough, but there you go. ruffdawg: I’m a member of The Mugler Angel circle & I received a 1ml sample of Angel La Part des Anges in the mail from Thierry mugler parfums. I have some on my wrist now & in my honest opinion, its not so great. Now, mind you, I LOVE the original Angel Eau de Parfum & also the Extract de parfum of which I own a few limited edition bottles, but this new cherrywood soaked extrait version is a little bit funky, and not in a good way. I honestly can smell cherries in it. I know it says cherrywood, but I smell cherries, as in the fruit. It smells like Angel that was strained through a pouch of cherry pipe tobacco. Its even a bit tobacco-ish, it smells like the scent that hits you when you walk into a smkoe/pipe tobacco shop mixed with Angel. If you work at a tobacco shop or know someone who does, spray yourself or him or her with Angel before they go to work, when they come home they will smell like this new Angel blend. As I said earlier I LOVE the original Angel, and I’m one of those “evil persons” who loves to bathe in it and offend everyone within a 500ft area of me, lol ;o) I can wear a ton of it without ever even slightly getting a headache, BUT this new La Part Des Anges on the other hand, has threatened me with a headache from my first whiff, and the longer I sit here smelling it, the more it stabs at my brain. I think I’ll pass on a bottle of this new version. OK, my review is now over because I need to run to the sink and scrub this stuff off. December 3, 2007 at 9:50pm
