As the Flavors and Fragrances 2007 Conference brochure states, “The Osmotheque, the International Conservatory of Perfumes, was launched in 1990. Its vocation is to put together an amazing collection of 1700 perfumes (400 of them almost forgotten fragrances: jewels of perfumery). Most of them are reformulated as closely as possible to the originals by «Osmothecaires», famous perfumers such as Jean Kerléo… As one of the most relevant «Osmothecaires», Patricia de Nicolaï, herself also manager of Parfums de Nicolai, will be happy to show you the most famous perfumes which have been keyed by novel synthetic materials at their time. These important creations include: ‘Fougère Royale’ of Houbigant, ‘Rose Jacqueminot’ of Coty, ‘Trèfle Incarnat’ of Piver… and many many more.”
“The Influence of Synthetic Materials on the History of Perfumery –A Smelling Trip into the Past” is one of the presentations during the conference which will take place on 24-26 September, 2007 at Imperial College in London.
“To formulate is not to create a new cooking recipe, with several ingredients that you cumulate until you reach the right wellbalanced amount. I prefer to compare formulation to flexibly knitting materials together with a living stitch, meeting or repelling each other, building a pleasant form, which neither is fix, solid, or rigid.” Such is Céline Ellena’s approach in her presentation titled “Formulation: Bricks and Chats.”
Among other features of the program are the presentations by perfumers and scientists, including Geza Schoen (Escentric Molecules, Berlin), Christophe Laudamiel (IFF, New York), Dr. Charles Sell (Givaudan, Ashford.)

Muguet was a limited edition issued for 2001. The Company, Annick Goutal, has reissued 4 of their “soliflore” fragrances; sadly Muguet was not one. The muguet you have found must be from the original release.

Casey: Maybe someone here can help me…I have this fresh smelling facial cleanser that I love and would like to create something similar to it. Where can I get “fragrances” or materials to create my own? I have called the company that makes the cleanser, Kou Naturals, about getting the fragrance from them but they said it was a “trade secret.” September 19, 2007 at 5:13pm
