I have been in the process of updating my beauty blog list, having realized that quite a few I used to follow are no longer active. Therefore, I would love to find out what beauty or fashion blogs you like to read. Please share your favorites!

  • Sveta: I read most fragrance blogs but I also like Blogdorf Goodman. I like her fragrance posts a lot. November 19, 2010 at 5:20pm Reply

  • olivia: i love blogdorf goodman, karlasugar, into the gloss and the makeup and beauty blog. all are good and keep this makeup junkie satisfied. happy reading. November 19, 2010 at 9:17pm Reply

  • Belinda: I’m not sure if this qualifies as a beauty blog but I recently stumbled upon a blog called “Sweet Sunday Mornings which basically consists of a bunch of images from classic movies or movies with a “vintage look.” I went to it from a link on a vintage hairstyles blog and was delighted to find the perfect up-do from an image there that I ended up recreating for a friend’s wedding. There aren’t any product reviews so I go there mostly for inspiration from the photos. November 19, 2010 at 8:34pm Reply

  • Tamara*J: My favorite is The Non-Blonde.
She does beauty and make-up, sometimes fashion.
Gaia is awesome but I admit I love her perfume posts the best. November 20, 2010 at 1:34am Reply

  • Anna in Edinburgh: Given that I don’t even wear make-up, the blogs I like are the Non-Blonde, as noted above, and Best Things in Beauty. (Both bloggers occasionally feature perfume, which is what I like.)

  • minette: interesting that we share many of the same beauty reading. i read gaia’s blog and blogdorf goodman. there are a lot of beauty/makeup blogs out there, but so many of them are obviously doing “reviews” for free product. yeah, i know, some of them say they aren’t but you can tell by the writing and the content. i prefer a more honest sort of review, and also like more meat than sauce – like, freakin’ tell me how it performs instead of boring me with your oh,so busy life (megsmakeup, i’m looking at you). i’m less addicted to makeup than i am to perfume, so i don’t go seeking out new beauty blogs, especially when the non-blonde and blogdorf cover a range from drugstore to high-end. plus, i know how to do my own makeup and what works for me, so my reading is more to see whether or not i’m missing something nifty. cheers! • Victoria: Minette, I know what you mean! Although I am not familiar with the blog you mention, I find that many beauty blogs are not in-depth enough about the performance of the product. They tend to include a lot of the information that the press release mentions already. It is not the reason why I read blogs. I do not tend to search out beauty blogs on purpose, but I check time to time as I do not want to miss anything particularly interesting. Gaia and Annie do a great job, and for this reason, they are my top beauty reading, on blogs or otherwise. November 22, 2010 at 7:54pm Reply

  • minette: we are definitely similar in our tastes, victoria! you know who might be able to help you with other beauty blogs – gaia. in her friday roundups, she mentions other beauty blogs. you’d have to check them, to see if they’re what you like, but it’s a good place to start. November 23, 2010 at 4:29pm Reply

  • Victoria: Minette, whenever I see you commenting on a perfume you like, I make a mental note to try it out. It helps to sort out through the avalanche of new launches. Amazing that even the economic crisis has not stopped that.

Anyway, thank you for the idea to check out Gaia’s Friday roundup. I totally forgot about that. November 23, 2010 at 4:37pm Reply

  • minette: backatcha, victoria. 🙂 i always pay attention to your thoughts. you’re one of the most sophisticated perfume writers out there, and always a pleasure to read. be well, and happy thanksgiving to you. November 24, 2010 at 4:14pm Reply

  • Victoria: Thank you for such a lovely compliment! 🙂
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! I am finally finished with work for today (and grocery shopping,) so my husband and I can start enjoying our holiday weekend. November 24, 2010 at 4:31pm Reply

  • Ganda: Amy over at Cafe Makeup posts wonderful swatches and reviews. I credit her (and her swatches) for having startef my Chanel addiction.

Gaia the Nonblonde is my personal favorite. She occupies precious real estate on my bookmarks toolbar. 🙂 November 27, 2010 at 8:09am Reply

  • Victoria: Ganda, thank you for the recommendation. I worry about having more addictions than I do already, but I am going to explore Cafe Makeup anyway! November 27, 2010 at 1:57pm Reply

  • flittersniffer: The Non-Blonde and MyBeautyBlog.de would be my two picks. The former is wonderfully snarky (as billed), while the latter enables me to keep my German up-to-date! November 28, 2010 at 3:29pm Reply

  • Patty: I read a bunch of perfume blogs frequently, some every day (though no makeup blogs): Now Smell This, Perfume Posse, Perfume of Life (really a forum), The Non-Blonde, Katie Puckrik Smells, Muse in Wooden Shoes. November 30, 2010 at 3:36pm Reply

  • Victoria: @flittersniffer
My German badly needs maintenance. I will check your mybeautyblog out. Thank you! December 2, 2010 at 9:58am Reply

  • Victoria: @Patty
Yes, perfume blogs comprise my daily morning reading too! A good way to start the day. December 2, 2010 at 9:59am Reply

  • T.Chi: WELOVEBEAUTY.COM used to be my favorite website focused on beauty and makeup, but I don’t really know what happened to the website so now I can’t find it on the internet any more, which is sad. What I like Welovebeauty.com was the website offered how-to make-up/hair styling tutorials and D.I.Y celeb looks tutorials; very interesting (with great story) “what inside my make-up bag” posts; etc…

I don’t read many beauty blogs but recently I’m really fond of In To The Gloss (the author behind it is an intern for Vogue, who once made a cameo in The Hill reality TV series and was infamously name “the super-intern” by Lauren Conrad and Whitney Port, just in case you’ve watched the show).
In To The Gloss gives you a range of great interviews and mini-interviews from fashion-insiders; a quick look at the fashion-people’s beauty cabinets and some beauty product review from the author’s personal experience. Very modern, very spot-on, very smart… is what I’d describe Intothegloss.com
So, happy reading! February 2, 2011 at 11:45am Reply

  • Victoria: Thank you very much for this great recommendation. Sounds exactly like something I have been looking to read. February 2, 2011 at 12:09pm Reply
