Parfums de Nicolai Musc Intense : New Fragrance

Parfums de Nicolaï has just released a new fragrance inspired by the rich musks used in the classical fragrances. Created by perfumer Patricia de Nicolaï, Musc Intense is a deep and rich blend with notes of rose, jasmine, violet, carnation, clove, and musks.

“The fragrance I imagined is a flowery, soft, extremely sensual caress. Musc Intense is a union of rose and white musk. I like the liqueur top note, the elegant essence of Turkish Rose. Carnation and violet take over from there, sustained by jasmine and rose absolutes. Musc Intense is an explosive cocktail of musk notes… A sensuous and particularly sophisticated fragrance. So Nicolaï!”

Musc Intense is available from Parfums de Nicolaï boutiques and soon to be available online. 30ml Eau de Parfum/49 euros. Via pnicolai.com

  • Barbara: Is PdN the best priced niche perfume line or what?
Musc Intense sounds interesting. Is it anything like Annick Goutal Musc Nomade, I wonder. September 19, 2012 at 9:52am Reply

    • Victoria: It’s definitely among the best in terms of price per quality!
I don’t think that Musc Intense is anything like Musc Nomade, but I need to compare side by side. Musc Nomade was much more animalic on me. September 19, 2012 at 10:43am Reply

  • mals86: Sounds lovely.

I’m not a huge musk fan, but I do have great fondness for Jovan Musk for Women, with its “warm clean skin” angle and its florals. September 19, 2012 at 10:25am Reply

    • sara: another jovan musk fan! we are a rare breed i think. 🙂 i always got a ton of compliments on jovan musk. September 19, 2012 at 10:33am Reply

      • Robert: I’m awaiting a vintage Joven for Women in the cologne version, hoping it won’t be too feminine for me to get away with. I’m very fond of the down-market Avon Musk for Men from the seventies that I have. June 8, 2013 at 8:26pm Reply

    • Victoria: I’m also not the biggest pure musk fan out there, but I will test anything by Parfums de Nicolai. I just love this line. September 19, 2012 at 10:43am Reply

      • rosarita: I feel the same way about PdN. I always appreciate her artistry esp at the reasonable price point even when a scent isn’t *me*. September 19, 2012 at 11:14am Reply

        • Victoria: I don’t like every single fragrance in the collection, but the ones that work for me are among my top favorites. September 19, 2012 at 5:01pm Reply

      • solanace: That’s exactly how I feel about this line. Such great quality, at very reasonable prices. September 19, 2012 at 2:47pm Reply

        • Victoria: And as I said to Daisy, those 30ml sizes are pretty much irresistible. 🙂 September 19, 2012 at 5:13pm Reply

  • sara: reading first about odin seylon and then about musc intense made me think that animalic musk and vetiver would make a good perfume. is there something like that already? September 19, 2012 at 10:31am Reply

    • Victoria: What a fun idea! I love the combination of musk and vetiver in Annick Goutal Vetiver (+marine, salty notes!)
Lalique Encre Noire is another splendid vetiver, although the musk isn’t too animalic in it. September 19, 2012 at 10:45am Reply

  • Daisy: I’m a big musk fan, and the PdN line is just so reasonable. Putting this on my sniff list! September 19, 2012 at 11:24am Reply

    • Victoria: And they have those 30ml size you and I like so much! September 19, 2012 at 5:01pm Reply

      • Daisy: I love them! Parfumerie Générale has 30ml sizes in almost everything too — makes me very happy! September 20, 2012 at 11:38am Reply

  • Marina: Nicolai’s perfumes always have been so complicated for me. It took a lot of time to understand them and to love. But anyway I’m very exited by this new fragrance, will try it definitely! September 19, 2012 at 12:58pm Reply

    • Victoria: They certainly require a longer courtship to appreciate them, but it’s worth it. September 19, 2012 at 5:11pm Reply

  • Zaggora Girl: Great blog, this perfume brand is absolutely amazing! what is your favorite perfume out of the brand’s entire range? September 19, 2012 at 1:59pm Reply

    • Victoria: I’m torn between Odalisque and Le Temps d’Une Fete! September 19, 2012 at 5:11pm Reply

      • OperaFan: Odalisque gets my vote! But I also love her 3 vanilla based scents: Vanille Intense, V Tonka, and Sacrebleu. September 20, 2012 at 9:12am Reply

        • Victoria: Vanille Tonka and Sacrebleu are so beautiful, although I just realized that I still haven’t tried Vanille Intense. September 22, 2012 at 4:39am Reply

          • Zaggora Girl: We are in love with the Odalisque fragrance! Do you like sweet fragrances too, or would you opt for stronger ones? September 28, 2012 at 2:40pm Reply

  • maggiecat: Oh, this sounds wonderful! I love musks and cannot wait to try this (though I’ll probably have to be patient – who knows when it will be available in the U.S. and in my area?) September 19, 2012 at 2:38pm Reply

    • Victoria: I see it online at PdN, so I think that Musc Intense is going to make it to Luckyscent soon. They usually get these launches within a very short time of their release. September 19, 2012 at 5:12pm Reply
