L’Artisan Parfumeur Le Printemps and L’Ete Candles : New Scents

This spring, in addition to Caligna, L’Artisan Parfumeur will add two new candles to its Grasse Collection: Le Printemps (spring) and L’Été (summer).

Le Printemps small candle

Le Printemps (spring)

Inspired by spring in Grasse, this candle blends laurel, rosemary, lentisk and thyme, and accents the herbs with spicy star anise.

L’Été (summer)

“L’Été takes you to the Grasse hinterland when nature is at its most resplendent. Imagine yourself surrounded by flowers on the terrace of a beautiful villa, overlooking the sea, with the sun on your skin.” The candle is scented with neroli, lemon,  jasmine, and Provençal honey.

  • sara: scents sound nice, especially the summery one.

anyone know of a similar candle but less pricey? March 27, 2013 at 8:35am Reply

    • Victoria: L’Occitane has nice candles, and they are reasonably priced. The only orange blossom candle I can think of is Diptyque’s, but it’s also not exactly cheap. March 27, 2013 at 11:17am Reply

    • Bela: I like Muji candles. Their Log Fire and Wood Ember can rival anything produced by Diptyque or L’Artisan Parfumeur – at a fraction of the price. March 27, 2013 at 2:00pm Reply

  • Marjorie: One of my favourite candles is their Rose des Indes. It smells like a rose garden on a summer day. I was gifted L’Hiver, but it has poor throw. But the smell in the jar was very good. March 27, 2013 at 9:18am Reply

    • Victoria: I’ve only sniffed L’Hiver, but I liked its smoky, woody notes. Too bad that it has poor throw. March 27, 2013 at 11:18am Reply

  • Elizabeth: I want them both! But ouch: expensive.

We must be on the same mental wavelength somehow. I was wearing Perle de Mousse when you posted the review, and today I am wearing a L’artisan! Drole de Rose. March 27, 2013 at 10:04am Reply

    • Victoria: I know! £45 for a candle is definitely very expensive.

      We’re both thinking spring. 🙂 March 27, 2013 at 11:20am Reply

  • Beth: I love the Spring one, something about a candle scent with herbs and flowers. Odd that I don’t really love it in a perfume. But I’m with a lot of the people that say “ouch” at the price. I can splurge that much on a fragrance, but somehow it feels frivolous in a candle. I’m not sure why, when I really love to scent my house, but I can’t shake it. March 27, 2013 at 11:44am Reply

    • Victoria: Yes, I agree. At that price one can have a nice bottle of perfume! March 27, 2013 at 12:05pm Reply

  • iodine: I love the idea behind the Grasse collection and the description of the notes but my quick sniff at L’Autumn and L’Hiver was quite disappointing… Too bad, L’Artisan candles are generally very good in burning and throwing, but those fragrances didn’t convince me. I hope to smell these ones soon. March 27, 2013 at 1:14pm Reply

    • Victoria: I like some older L’Artisan candles very much, and I still have a votive of Tilleuls Au Vent that smells strong enough to perfume my linen closet. And it’s a couple of years old at this point. March 27, 2013 at 2:01pm Reply

  • Rowanhill: Thank you for reminding me 🙂 that I also own a Tilleulls Au Vent votive. Just dug it out and albeit the candle is several years old it still smells wonderful – a spring concentrate. My other option for spring is Palace from Flamant. March 28, 2013 at 5:57am Reply

    • Victoria: I’m not familiar with Palace from Flamant. Where is it available in Belgium? March 28, 2013 at 8:44am Reply

      • Rowanhill: You can find the candles at the Flamant shops. The big one is at Sablon a smaller one on Av. Louise. Also Inno at rue Neuve has a Flamant section but not sure they carry all candles. March 28, 2013 at 10:33am Reply

        • Victoria: Thank you! You’re my guide to all things beauty in Brussels. 🙂 March 28, 2013 at 4:09pm Reply

  • Nicola Donbavand: I have a very special place for L’Artisan candles – it was the buying office choice (under the leaves) at Liberty, many moons ago. Everytime I find myself in Paris I just have to treate myself.
True Grace from Wiltshire UK are very affordable, around £25 mark, just as stylish as the elite group. Melt are also simply sublime, they carry their own fragrance as the base which creates a very unique and addictive ambience, they have a selection for every season and Angel is their best seller – Vanilla, patouli & chocolate Mmmm. • Victoria: Thank you for your suggestions! £25 is reasonable for a good-quality candle. March 28, 2013 at 4:08pm Reply
