  • Ajda: Amour Nocturne and Skin on Skin both sound appealing to me. I’ll definitely sample these in September :). May 28, 2013 at 7:28am Reply

    • Victoria: They caught my attention too, especially Skin on Skin. May 28, 2013 at 8:31am Reply

  • Cornelia Blimber: The idea of tenderness expressed by gunpowder…I can’t wait! May 28, 2013 at 7:29am Reply

    • Victoria: 🙂 The combination of mineral-sharp (gunpowder) and milky notes sounds interesting though. May 28, 2013 at 8:31am Reply

  • Key change: Oh wow, I haven’t heard of gunpowder being used in perfume before, but it sounds interesting! I always get a wee worried that the “metallic” portion will be overdone though, and distract my nose from appreciating the remainder of the fragrance. May 28, 2013 at 10:40am Reply

    • Victoria: 🙂 Some notes have the kind of sharp, mineral effect to them, which can be an interesting addition. Not sure what L’Artisan means by gunpowder in this case though.

If you’re curious about the mineral effect I’m talking about, try Terre d’Hermes and Comme des Garcons Amazingreen! They also advertise “gunpowder” in their notes. May 28, 2013 at 3:19pm Reply

  • Nancy A.: L’artisan is hard to come by these days. Henri Bendel’s longstanding freestanding boutique is no more. And yet I’m hearing all about their newly created fragrances and in this review sounds alluring and intoxicating based on the variant compositions. Nonetheless, I look forward to testing them all! • Victoria: I was also told at the boutique in Paris that they are closing their London operations. The perfumes will be sold at the department stores, but the stand alone boutique will shut down. May 28, 2013 at 3:20pm Reply

  • solmarea: Skin on Skin. The name alone is difficult to resist. May 28, 2013 at 1:27pm Reply

  • Lynn Morgan: METALLICS??? It makes the fillings in my teeth ache already! Skin on Skin might have potential, though. May 28, 2013 at 6:21pm Reply

    • Victoria: Hope that it won’t disappoint us! 🙂 May 29, 2013 at 6:03am Reply

  • Jessica: Ooh…I need to try Amour Nocturne, gunpowder and all! May 28, 2013 at 8:49pm Reply

    • Victoria: This collection also made me think of another emotion inspired line from L’Artisan, Sautes d’Humeur. It was created by Olivia Giacobetti and represented different moods and emotional states: jealousy, happiness, etc. May 29, 2013 at 6:21am Reply

  • Daisy: The bottle, the notes, the perfumer! I can’t wait. Amour Nocturne and Skin on Skin draw my attention the most.

The idea of metallic notes, toffee apple, and cotton candy on the other hand reminds me of those giant tin drums of candied popcorn that came in multi-colors . . . May 29, 2013 at 1:13am Reply

    • Victoria: 🙂 The ones that mix caramel and salty popcorn? May 29, 2013 at 6:25am Reply

      • Daisy: Yes 🙂 That’s it! May 29, 2013 at 3:57pm Reply

  • erry: I’m curious about skin on skin. Somehow, it reminds me of dans tes bras. May 29, 2013 at 1:27am Reply

    • Victoria: I can see what you mean based on the notes! May 29, 2013 at 6:25am Reply

  • Tomate Farcie: How does Duchaufour do it? He seems to be everywhere. May 30, 2013 at 10:38pm Reply

    • Victoria: He’s impressive, but then again, most perfumers work on more than a dozen projects at once. It’s just that most of them never end up on the market. BD, on the other hand, works very hard, but he has a chance to pick clients and get rewarded for his creativity (not just the cost of oil, as the big company perfumers do). • Lily: Curious if anyone ever got around to trying any of these three? January 16, 2016 at 1:00pm Reply

    • Victoria: I thought that they were surprisingly bland and overpriced. January 17, 2016 at 5:06am Reply
