Flavor and Fragrance Conference in Leipzig

Industry professionals and anyone interested in fragrance chemistry should take note of the Leipzig flavors & fragrances conference, which is to take place from September 11th to 13th, 2013. Organized by Philip Kraft and Johannes Panten, the event will cover a broad range of topics, including natural product chemistry, foods and flavors, perfumery and olfaction. Besides many prominent names in fragrance research and development (you can see the full list by downloading the program details), the conference will include lectures from perfumer Maurice Roucel of Symrise, artist Sissel Tolaas, and Etienne de Swardt of Etat Libre d’Orange.

The conference registration is currently open, but spaces are limited. For more information, please visit www.gdch.de.

  • timothy: I assume it’s the same Philip Kraft who wrote Scent and Chemistry? Unfortunately, I can’t go to Leipzig but wish I could. I’m a chemistry student, and Scent and Chemistry is my favorite book on fragrance science. August 6, 2013 at 12:38pm Reply

    • Victoria: Yes, that’s right. I also think that Scent and Chemistry is a terrific book, and I only hope that they will be updating it time to time. August 6, 2013 at 3:06pm Reply

  • Hanni: Dear Victoria, thank you so much for posting this. I am a student of the University in Leipzig, which means no fee – I just registered. Also, thank you for this blog – over the past year I have been educating myself about perfume and your blog has been very helpful and always such a pleasure to read. By the way: along with a decant of Guet-Apens I purchased from ebay, I received some decants as gifts, one of them Harmatan Noir by Parfumerie Générale which I’m wearing today (and I just found out, very suprised, that it was intended for men). I would love to know your thoughts on this one, since the other P.G. reviews on your blog are just so so. August 6, 2013 at 1:18pm Reply

    • Victoria: Dear Hanni, I’m so happy that you were able to take advantage of this opportunity. It sounds like a fascinating fragrance chemistry conference, and since Dr. Kraft knows a lot about the world of perfume (not just the chemistry side, but also creative), I’m sure that the program will be excellent. I wish I could attend, but perhaps another year.

I haven’t tried Harmatan Noir, but I’m going to add it to my list. Whenever someone mentions a fragrance I don’t know in the comments, it’s the best incentive for me to try it too. The niche perfumery is vast, and it’s hard to keep up with everything. August 6, 2013 at 3:13pm Reply
