London Times article on Guerlain

The rise of the house of Guerlain parallels the growth of the Second French Empire, but whereas Second Empire collapsed after after France’s defeat in the Franco-Prussian War (1870-1871), the house continued to thrive, in many ways examplifying the greatness of French perfumery. • Marcello: Their online archives go back to 1985, and I’m not sure there are alternative ways to dig up older articles from the London Times. Hopefully they will extend their online collection in the near future. August 6, 2005 at 3:01pm Reply

  • Anya: Hmmm… a sneaky way to get into newspaper archives… go to google, and c/p the most distinctive phrase from the article. Usually newspaper archives have at least one or two sentences from the fully article. Then hit “cached” when you see the google result and it may come up. August 6, 2005 at 7:35pm Reply
