And celebrity fragrance trend continues… Mariah Carey has recently signed a deal with Elizabeth Arden to develop her own line of fragrance products. The company anticipates launching it in spring 2007.
As WWD reports, Mariah Carey is not the first celebrity working with Arden. “Its deal with Britney Spears, signed in March 2004, has yielded two top-five hits: Curious Britney Spears, launched in September 2004, and Fantasy Britney Spears, launched in September 2005. Arden also has Hilary Duff under contract for beauty products since last September (the first fruits of that deal have not yet been released), and signed Catherine Zeta-Jones in February 2002 to be the face of its core Elizabeth Arden brand. In addition, NASCAR star Jeff Gordon has been the face of its Halston Z-14 brand since May 2004 – and the original celebrity fragrance maven, Elizabeth Taylor, is also part of the company family.”

Laura: Hmm. Now if they come up with a Jon Stewart fragrance, I’d be interested. Wonder what they’d call it. April 7, 2006 at 11:30am

helg: Hi Vic!
Seriously, isn’t the fragrance market saturated enough with so-called celebrity perfumes?
Is this the best career saving move they could think for Mariah? I wonder.
However I guess one should judge before trying so I will shut it for the time being and wait for the juice to comment conclusively.
Have a great day! April 11, 2006 at 7:55am
BoisdeJasmin: L, now, I would be interested in that myself! April 11, 2006 at 1:23pm
BoisdeJasmin: E, the fragrance market is saturated, whether you are talking about celebrity or everything else. What is lacking are the fragrances that have artistic merit. I do not know whether Mariah’s fragrance will have that, but I suppose that we shall be able to judge that soon enough. April 11, 2006 at 1:26pm
