Guerlain Bois d’Armenie : Perfume News

Cartadarmenia

Bois d’Armenie, the newest Guerlain fragrance created for the L’Art et la Matiere collection, which includes Angélique Noire, Rose Barbare and Cuir Beluga, is already available at the Guerlain flagship store in Paris.  Inspired by the scented paper used as incense since the 16th century, the fragrance includes notes of “pink pepper, iris, rose, coriander, benzoin, Indonesian patchouli, incense, precious woods, musk and balsams.”  For the time being, Bois d’Armenie is exclusive to 68, Champs Elysées store, however they can be ordered by calling 33 145 62 52 57 or writing to Francoise at [email protected] (via boutique).

  • Prince Barry: This is one that I will have to try. I regularly use the Carte d’Armenia from SMN and love them. July 5, 2006 at 8:40am Reply

  • Elle: SO excited about this. Thanks for posting! I just called the boutique and found that I need to email my order to them. You may not get this in time to answer, but I’m totally perplexed as to what the woman’s name was to whom I’m supposed to address it. Afas? Does that sound remotely like anyone you’ve met there? Sigh. She repeated it for me twice and I was still not positive. July 5, 2006 at 10:10am Reply

  • Elle: Cancel above question! I just spoke to her again and sent off my email. The name was correct. Phew! Such a nice person! July 5, 2006 at 11:13am Reply

  • Sisonne: I can´t wait to test it 🙂 ! There should be another new release called “Eau de Cologne du 68”. Considering the name I think it´s a male fragrance. Have you already smelled it? July 5, 2006 at 1:18pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Barry, yes, it sounds like an interesting fragrance. Incense, woods… July 5, 2006 at 3:10pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Kaori, it is an interesting version of incense. I am trying to imagine how it would smell in the perfume, and I think that it might marry really well with the powdery Guerlain base. July 6, 2006 at 1:20am Reply

  • k-amber: Oh~, new fragrance adds to my wish list. I adore Angelique Noire and believe bois d’Armenie is wonderful as well. I also like burning papers and use Papier D’Armenie, that is quite nice as room deodorizer 🙂

  • carmencanada: Dear V., I’ve just been to Guerlain and spoke to Françoise — I hadn’t read your post and was delighted to find out she knew you! Bois d’Arménie is quite beautiful. On paper, the Gaiac wood comes out immediately while on skin it rises slowly to mingle with the benzoin. It stays quite close to the skin. No Guerlinade at all, though vanilla is perceptible and iris lends a slight powdery effect reminiscent of Papier d’Arménie — compared to the effluvia of the burning paper, Bois is softer and smoother but very true to form. Doesn’t smell anything like a Guerlain, though. July 8, 2006 at 12:53pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: D, oh, it sounds amazing! I cannot wait to try Bois d’Armenie. I have met Francoise in Paris a few times, and she is always very helpful and very reliable, which is why I never have qualms in recommending her services. Plus, she handles overseas sales as it is, from what I understand. July 8, 2006 at 4:07pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: J, thank you very much for the link. I used to buy that same paper in France, and I just burned my last strip a couple of weeks ago. I love the scent too, although I wonder what it might be like in a perfume. July 11, 2006 at 11:04pm Reply

  • Bela: Papier d’Arménie (the scented paper) is still available in France. It’s made by one particular company and sold in small dark-green books: you tear strips off and set them alight. It’s a very familiar smell that brings back my childhood. I don’t know the Guerlain scent, but it must be lovely. July 11, 2006 at 10:47pm Reply
