Cosmetics International reports on a new line inspired by Shakespeare. Juliette Has A Gun will be launched next year with Lady Vengeance and Miss Charming, with three more fragrances following later. The two perfumes are created by Francis Kurkdjian, the perfumer behind Acqua di Parma Iris Nobile (with Christine Nagel), Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, Dior Cologne Blanche and Eau Noire as well as Lanvin Rumeur. “Taking its name from Shakespeare’s ill-fated heroine and updating it to the 21st century, Ricci [Romano Ricci of A&R Parfums which created the brand] said he aimed to create a new stable of fragrances for modern women who ‘pursue today, more than ever, an intense desire for freedom’,” note the article. “Lady Vengeance aims to evoke powerful emotions with notes of Italian rose absolute, vanilla and patchouli while the more innocent Miss Charming will feature Moroccan rose, wild strawberry and lychee.”

Diane: Interesting concept. At first, I thought this was a cinema report. There is a Korean film called Lady Vengeance 🙂 September 15, 2006 at 7:02pm
ambroxan: I’ve just smelled the first two scents. Not so bad, but not fascinating as Ina could think. The rose is rather present is the two fragrances I smelled at Beyond Beauty Fair in Paris. I thought it was going to be more insolent like Etat Libre d’Orange, but the bottles are rather pretty & quiet with a tie on the carton : it made me think a bit like Creed or Penhaligon’s. Funny although.

Roger M. Christian: Since you are fashion related, and that I also recognized the importance of scents, and the flux and ebb of how scents are developed and manufactor. In any case though, and a point I shoudl also make, you have gone into extra detail, and behind the comments you have made I also see the carefully articulated mind behind them. Thus you should appreciate the questions I am aasking about recent trends in styles and fashions. What I am trying to do is to form a consensus first before going on and forming an opinion. This, I feel must go double when I as a male is looking directly at female fashions.
Thusly for you and your readers…..
Hello,
Fashions and recents trends have indicated there is now real debate. No this is not being done in a classical sense within an academic setting. This one is being addressed on the runways a various other walkways of fashion shows in which beautiful models parades with the language of style, and the image they convery dressed on their lovely forms.
Top nudity has now appeared, and with more frequency, and with more open areas of the pelvis regions are now coming in to their own, along with their established sales nitches. This coupled with a new but nervous era of post-feminism one has to really have to look at what this entails to both womyns options and sociocultural safety.
Retros are now becoming stronger too! And thus one also has to ask ..” why during this time and era ?” Is this a defensive retreat, or one in which this too is to preserve womyn’s options? All the while the fashion style middle of these two extremes the center is likewise being influenced by both directions.
All this during a time in which womyn options and freedoms are rapid’ly increasing too. No longer being held back by any of the past taboos, the lessening of sexual violence, or even for that fact by physical – sexual related limitiations either.
Thus this is sent to initiate a focus in which to trigger discussions so everyone, especically men, can begin to know whats on the future horizons as a result. Is there another human frontier to be conquered ? Or are we maturing as a speicies ?
