Les Parfums : Histoire, Anthologie, Dictionnaire by Elisabeth de Feydeau ~ New Perfume Book

Perfumeef

Elisabeth de Feydeau, an author of A Scented Palace: The Secret History of Marie Antoinette’s Perfumer has released a new book on fragrance. Just like her previous book, Les Parfums : Histoire, Anthologie, Dictionnaire is a fruit of extended and thorough research. It looks at the history of fragrance and explores the customs and traditions surrounding its use. The author also includes fascinating materials based on the interviews with perfumers working for Chanel, Guerlain, Dior, Hermès and other fragrance houses. I find it to be one of the best perfume themed books I have come across recently, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to those who speak French. Available from amazon.fr.

  • Tulip: Can’t wait to see it in English- at 1,206 pages it should be quite a read! November 3, 2011 at 6:34pm Reply

  • Nikki: Great, V! Thank you for the link, I just ordered it and can’t wait for its arrival. Merci bien! November 3, 2011 at 9:21pm Reply

  • Emma: I have a big problem with de Feydeau, her blog is nothing but buttkissing beyond getting brown teeth the perfume industry. I discussed this with other bloggers, the excuse is that as an industry insider she cannot make ennemies. Wow with people like that, the Revolution won’t be perfumed! • Nikki: V, I order a lot of books through amazon, either the .com or .de or .fr….It is just wonderful that one can order anything for the same price, sign in with the same account and just pay extra shipping. We are very spoiled! The last book I ordered was the collection of YSL and Pierre Berge, a big, heavy book but an absolute dream. Check it out…”Les Paradis Secrets”. November 4, 2011 at 9:46am Reply
