Balenciaga L’Eau Rose : New Perfume

Balenciaga is launching its next fragrance, Balenciaga L’Eau Rose, in March, following Balenciaga Paris, L’Essence and Florabotanica.  Created by perfumers Olivier Polge and Domitille Bertier, it’s a variation on the original Balenciaga Paris. The violet motif of the original is accented with pepper, violet leaf, blackberry, rose, patchouli, cedarwood and vetiver.

  • Barbara: The bottle looks pretty. I just got a sample of Eau de Cartier Rose. Did you try it already? January 17, 2013 at 9:08am Reply

    • Victoria: I smelled it the other day and it was pretty. But it doesn’t improve on the original. January 17, 2013 at 10:53am Reply

  • Nancy A.: Hi Victoria,

Balenciaga holds my respect for the creation of L’Essence & Paris. However Florabotanica did not make my list. It was a disappointment to say the least. The notes however in this newly created launch sounds good but it’s going to be a wait and see. Is there a relation to Jacques Polge (Olivier)? January 17, 2013 at 11:48am Reply

    • Victoria: Yes, Olivier is his son! I didn’t think that any of these rose tinted flankers improve on the originals. The spring flankers this season seem particularly one-dimensional. January 17, 2013 at 11:52am Reply

  • Gretchen: Victoria (or Susanne, whomever can get to it first), would you please review this once it comes out? It sounds interesting, and might be a good graduation gift for my daughter if it’s of decent quality. The original Balenciaga wasn’t her style, but this sure sounds like it might be a good surprise… January 17, 2013 at 9:32pm Reply

    • Victoria: We will! You daughter might want to try the new Kenzo I Love You–a pretty floral with a rose-frangipani note. January 18, 2013 at 11:52am Reply

      • Andrea: Rose and Frangipani are my two favorite notes! I don’t think I have ever tried them together, though. I’m excited to try this Kenzo!!! January 21, 2013 at 11:00am Reply

  • Ariadne: I am looking forward to Feb 1st and trying this! …. and speaking of new roses, please review SSS Rose Volupte, Laurie E’s Dec. ’12 release after rework.
I just purchased a bottle and am trying it out. I would love to hear your analysis of this creation. One thing I will tell you right now is it LASTS for like 24 hrs or more!!!! January 19, 2013 at 12:14pm Reply

    • Victoria: Thank you, Ariadne! I will be on the lookout for it. January 21, 2013 at 7:05am Reply

  • moi: I do not get the current Balenciaga ‘fumes, these “meh” florals from a house that gave us the stunning Le Dix and Michelle. Pandering to current tastes, nothing more, IMHO. January 20, 2013 at 10:57am Reply

    • Victoria: Yes, that’s true. I don’t mind if a house has a mix of commercial and niche, but if every new launch is a rehash of the same tired idea, it gets really dull. January 21, 2013 at 7:06am Reply
