Luca and Victoria speak for 1.5h on topics included, but not limited to: vintage perfumes, our favorite fragrances, trends we hate, industry gossip. No one will be spared. All will be entertained. Funds will be used to support charity projects in Ukraine.

About these Lectures
Students of all levels of interest in perfumery will find much to learn in this series of lectures. The lecture is designed to sharpen your sense smell and improve your enjoyment and appreciation of scents. You will learn professional smelling techniques and receive personalized tips. You will learn how to smell complex aromas and about the main criteria of a well-made fragrance–and how to look for them.

Jillie: As seems to be so often the case, Victoria, you have spookily picked up on my thoughts! Many, many years ago I was acting in a production of Chekov’s “Three Sisters”, and as the play began, we were standing on the stage with our backs to the audience. In front of me was a huge vase full of mimosa, and I can never smell it now without being immediately transported back to that moment. I was reminiscing about the scent only the other day with the person who is writing the history of our drama company, and telling him that I wish I could breathe in that aniseedy yellowness right now.

Bela: I spent my teenage years and early youth in Nice so the scent of mimosa is imprinted in my heart and brain. There is nothing like it.
I’m a bit puzzled by the orangey shade of your mimosa, V. It’s normally much more yellow than that. January 29, 2013 at 11:35am
Victoria: Not sure, J, maybe your monitor saturates the colors? It looks yellow rather than orange on mine.
I know what you mean about the mimosa blooming time in Nice–the scent is everywhere, and it’s so evocative!
