Mmmmm, MEM by Bogue. Got a sample early on in my fragrance obsessive phase & then a decant. My first prismatic encounter. Haven’t smelled it in too long, you’re inspiring…January 13, 2025 at 12:18pm
You do justice to lavender, Victoria. I’d love to try Encens et Lavande some day. Like Sandra I love Jersey, the edp, I also adore Guerlain AA Lavande Velours (so…January 13, 2025 at 11:31am
When well blended with other notes, I find lavender to give a refined uplift to perfumes. My favourite perfumes with a lavender note are Maître Parfumeur & Gantier Ambre Précieux…January 13, 2025 at 11:30am
Lovely piece, and indeed not so simple! Vero Profumo Kiki in any version is a favourite…but nothing is more beautiful to my nose than the scent that comes directly from…

Jillie: As seems to be so often the case, Victoria, you have spookily picked up on my thoughts! Many, many years ago I was acting in a production of Chekov’s “Three Sisters”, and as the play began, we were standing on the stage with our backs to the audience. In front of me was a huge vase full of mimosa, and I can never smell it now without being immediately transported back to that moment. I was reminiscing about the scent only the other day with the person who is writing the history of our drama company, and telling him that I wish I could breathe in that aniseedy yellowness right now.

Bela: I spent my teenage years and early youth in Nice so the scent of mimosa is imprinted in my heart and brain. There is nothing like it.
I’m a bit puzzled by the orangey shade of your mimosa, V. It’s normally much more yellow than that. January 29, 2013 at 11:35am
Victoria: Not sure, J, maybe your monitor saturates the colors? It looks yellow rather than orange on mine.
I know what you mean about the mimosa blooming time in Nice–the scent is everywhere, and it’s so evocative!
Thank you very much, everyone! I already miss you. January 29, 2013 at 8:43pm
Bela: Oh, that must be it. Thanks for replying, V. Enjoy your break. 🙂 January 30, 2013 at 9:23am

Marc: I spotted the champagne bottle right away too! February 1, 2013 at 9:42am
Victoria: 🙂 I discovered at the last moment that we had no vases tall enough to fit the branches, so an empty champagne bottle left over from New Year’s celebrations came in handy. February 1, 2013 at 11:43am
