Cartier Baiser Vole Lys Rose : New Perfume

Cartier is introducing a new flanker to its Baiser Volé perfume called Baiser Volé Lys Rose. Created by perfumer Mathilde Laurent, it’s a fruity interpretation of the original Eau de Parfum released in 2011. It plays up the lily notes with rose and red berries.

“A perfume that leaves a lingering trail. Every aspect of the lily, a flower of pure femininity, is explored for the first time. A flower of passion for highly charged emotions.”

Baiser Volé is also available as Eau de Toilette, Essence de Parfum, and Extrait de Parfum. All variations build on the lily theme, but they have different accents and characters.

If you’ve tried it already, please comment. I’m very curious to hear what it’s like.

Baiser Volé Lys Rose is available in 50ml ($88) and 100ml ($128) ml Eau de Parfum. Via press release

  • missyl: Yay a rose centered one! Oh I want to know too! Waiting with ‘bated breath’ :)… June 10, 2014 at 10:56am Reply

    • Victoria: Although flankers don’t usually interest me, I wanted to make a note to self on this one. Baiser Vole has had some excellent sequels, which I liked even better than the original. So, I’m very curious about a rose inflected lily. 🙂 June 10, 2014 at 12:30pm Reply

  • Ariadne: Second that YAY from this rose adorer!! I had not known of the other BV sequels and would love to know their names too. June 10, 2014 at 1:19pm Reply

    • Victoria: Just the different concentrations–Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum, Essence. They are all different enough. Essence is a sillage monster, so consider yourself warned. 🙂 June 10, 2014 at 7:00pm Reply

  • Nancy A.: I was impressed with Lys which came through very true to its name but the rose although I sniffed briefly will require a re-visit — not bowled over. June 10, 2014 at 2:58pm Reply

    • Victoria: Thank you, Nancy! I’ll try to smell it anyway, but I will keep my expectations in check. 🙂 June 10, 2014 at 7:02pm Reply

  • zari: Okay, I just want to say I find perfumes by Cartier, David Yurman, Judith Leiber, etc. extremely boring. Just the thought of them producing perfume is boring. Where is the zest, the life, the heartbeat? June 10, 2014 at 3:35pm Reply

    • Miss Kitty V: Just the words “fruity interpretation” filled me with dread. 😉 June 10, 2014 at 3:46pm Reply

      • Caroline: yep, “red berries” sounds potentially discouraging! June 10, 2014 at 4:17pm Reply

    • Victoria: I agree on the other two, but not on Cartier. Must de Cartier and Declaration deserve the status of classics and perfume legends. They inspired many perfumes. Eau de Cartier is a terrific and distinctive violet leaf cologne. Baiser Vole was also a very well-done floral, and the quality is special enough for it to warrant a mention. But Cartier de Lune disappointed me, and the uber exclusive Les Heures line is too expensive for what amounts to be a collection of nice accords. June 10, 2014 at 6:56pm Reply

      • Cornelia Blimber: I loved So Pretty, discontinued (?). June 11, 2014 at 6:51am Reply

        • Victoria: It might have been. I also liked it. June 11, 2014 at 7:25am Reply

        • Elisa: Definitely DC’ed. I have a small decant. It’s lovely.

FWIW, I thought the David Yurman EDP was great. I am apparently the only person alive who did. June 11, 2014 at 4:47pm Reply

          • Katy McReynolds: You were not the only one who liked the David Yurman EDP! June 11, 2014 at 8:06pm Reply

            • Elisa: Glad to hear it!! June 12, 2014 at 10:58am Reply

        • Loric: I still have a partial bottle of So Pretty. June 11, 2014 at 9:35pm Reply

  • rose: I absolutely love Baiser Vole eau de parfum. It seems simple at first but is actually very unusual. I’ve tried quite a few niche and mainstream lilies and Baiser Vole is still my favourite.

I haven’t even got on to the other flankers yet, but will buy Lys Rose and the whole lot if sales go well! June 10, 2014 at 5:35pm Reply

    • Victoria: Simple at first, but it unfolds layer by layer, and it’s really a pleasure to wear. Plus, the hardest perfumes to create are these kind of radiant florals. June 10, 2014 at 7:06pm Reply

  • Kelly4: I tried this new one today and loved it. My sons nurse who never says anything about my perfume even complemented it. Also my husband noticed too. They have a one once bottle for 62$ on the Nordstrom website. To my nose this smelled very much like the original. I smelled more rose in the beginning and more raspberry in the dry down. I’m not very good at picking out notes though. Overall I think it’s lovely. I love the vibrant pink bottle too!!! :-)) June 11, 2014 at 1:33am Reply

    • Victoria: Sounds very nice! I like the original packaging, and I imagine that it looks very pretty in pink. June 11, 2014 at 4:20am Reply

  • Karin: Hmmm…I don’t see a mention of rose in any of the online descriptions of the scent. Sounds like the “rose” refers to the color, not the flower – i.e., pink lilies and raspberries? June 11, 2014 at 8:22am Reply

    • Kelly4: Hi Karin, I can’t find rose listed anywhere either and I’m not very good at picking out perfume notes. Above in the first paragraph it says rose mixed with red berries. Also the SA said it had rose in it too. I tried it again first thing this morning to test it out again. To me it stills smell very much like the original but a little sweeter but not sickening sweet. I could definitely smell the raspberry. On my skin it smells fresher and softer then the original which I already have. I can’t wait to hear what other people think about it. So curious to see if they smell what I smell. :-)) June 11, 2014 at 12:13pm Reply

    • Victoria: In the press materials, there was a rose mentioned. But I haven’t smelled the perfume yet, though. June 11, 2014 at 7:52pm Reply

      • Karin: Thanks, Victoria! I was excited that I didn’t read “rose” anywhere cause it would probably make me avoid the fragrance – most rose fragrances don’t work for me. But if it has rose…oh, that’s too bad. I may still try it, though. 😉 June 13, 2014 at 7:42am Reply

        • Victoria: It sounds like it’s going to be just an accent, so it will probably not be a rose dominated perfume. June 13, 2014 at 9:19am Reply

  • Lisa: Smelled this yesterday at Nordstrom. Hadn’t heard about about this one, but noticed it immediately as I walkd by the perfume counter & of course had to take a whiff. I really like this one. I personally love Cartier fragrances and own about 8 of them including the original Baiser Vole. Love how Cartier scents seem to evolve over time. This one smells very similar to the original. I don’t detect rose or even berries, it just smells like a lighter, fresher version of the original-perfect for Summer. A clerk at the mall said I smelled really good and two men stopped me to ask what I was wearing, lol. Decided I wouldn’t buy it, but last night decided I really like this one, had to have it & ordered the $62 size online from Nordstrom today. June 16, 2014 at 2:59am Reply

    • Kelly4: I bought a small bottle too. I like it when perfume houses offer one ounce sizes. BVLR is my favorite from this line. I’ve also noticed men really like this one too lol. Congrats on your new bottle. ;)) June 16, 2014 at 1:06pm Reply

      • Lisa: Thanks. I usually prefer to buy smaller sizes I have so many fragrances & like to alternate them. I love this one, perfect for the new Summer season. June 22, 2014 at 11:03am Reply

    • Victoria: Enjoy your new perfume! Sounds like it’s working really well for you. June 17, 2014 at 6:15am Reply

      • Lisa: Thanks. I’m still loving it. It’s a great scent-easy to wear for Summer. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last as long as the BV EDP, but the BVLR is EDT & not EDP so of course that’s understandable. Have you smelled it yet ? June 22, 2014 at 11:14am Reply

        • Victoria: Not yet! I don’t see it on the counters around here. June 23, 2014 at 5:12am Reply

  • Emma: I purchased Cartier La Panthere yesterday at Saks, which I love a lot, and I was given samples of Lys Rose. I think it just smells fresher and more pink.
I didn’t like the original Baiser Vole too much. My favorite lily is Lutens La Vierge de Fer. June 28, 2014 at 6:44pm Reply

    • Victoria: I was on the fence about La Vierge de Fer at first, but it really grew on me. My mom loved it and made me a decant out of her bottle. It’s blooms so well in the warm weather. June 29, 2014 at 1:45pm Reply
