Hermès Agar Ebène and Myrrhe Églantine Perfume Giveaway

Today we have a giveaway thanks to Andrea, one of the Bois de Jasmin regular readers. Andrea has a set of by three recent Hermessence samples that she didn’t click with and she would prefer to sent it to someone else. The set includes 2 x 4 ml spray samples: Hermès Agar Ebène and Myrrhe Églantine. They have been sprayed  once or twice and are mostly full. Andrea can only ship within the USA.

We are not responsible for leaks or damage during transit or for lost packages.

To participate, please answer these questions. I will randomly draw one winner.

1. Andrea would like to know what fragrance met your expectations?
2. What fragrance disappointed you?
3. May I contact you via email to notify you of your win and share your email with Andrea?

The contest is now closed. The winner is Lara Anderson. I will contact the winner via email shortly.

  • sara levy: Thank you for the giveaway! Recently, I have liked several Hiram Green scents: Slowdive, Moon Bloom, and Shangri-La. I was disappointed recently by Chanel Boy. I live in the US and can be contacted via email. August 3, 2018 at 9:05am Reply

  • BRENDA BENSON: One of my best-loved fragrances that met my expectations is Heart of Darkness by Charna Ethier.

Fragrance disappointment? Oh, that’s a tough question. My son wears Axe, and that to me is a disappointment. He’s 19 so hopefully he’ll grow out of it 🙂

Yes, you can definitely contact me by email. Thank you for such a fabulous blog. I always look forward to reading it. August 3, 2018 at 9:08am Reply

    • Chris Rusak: Brenda! We need to do a perfume intervention for him. 🙂 August 3, 2018 at 11:52am Reply

      • BRENDA BENSON: funny, Chris!! August 3, 2018 at 12:16pm Reply

    • MMKInPA: You must take your son to Sephora and make him smell a few real fragrances. And then buy one for him and teach him that he doesn’t need 50 sprays! August 3, 2018 at 1:58pm Reply

      • BRENDA BENSON: I’ve made a few of them for him and he likes them. I’m fortunate enough to live by the Institute for Art and Olfaction and attend their fabulous materials classes by Ashley Eden Kessler. Chris Rusak is teaching there too – he’s got some great fragrances. (Dana El Masri recently taught there too as well as Jessica Hannah) August 3, 2018 at 2:16pm Reply

  • Gina: Sooooo many meet my expectations, which is why I have too many. Let’s see. Recently, I expected spicy, carnation, sandalwood yumminess from a vintage that I bought. It was that and then some. I also blind `bought David Yurman Exotic Essence thinking I would love it. Immediately put it in the pile to sell. Yes, you can contact via email. I am in USA. Thank you for the generous offer to try these. I had a hate relationship with Hermes because they don’t last at all on my skin. Then, I fell in love with Twilly. I also like rhubarbe. STill don’t last but lovely. August 3, 2018 at 9:12am Reply

  • OnWingsofSaffron: Dear Andrea, thanks for the give-aways!
Truth be told, I found Agar Ébène delivered. Yet as woody scents aren‘t on the top of my must-have-list, and as I already have a full bottle of Timbuktu, I won‘t buy this rather dear perfume.
Absolutely horrible was Hermès‘ Citron Noir (or whatever) with precious „Patagonian“ woods. My foot, what rubbish! A toxic blast of nuclear waste aromachemicals ruin the first 2 1/2 minutes of lemon which were actually quite pleasant.
As I have tested both scents I‘ll pass and wish everybody a lovely day (it‘ HOT here in Europe!!) August 3, 2018 at 9:14am Reply

  • Stephanie: Thank you Andrea!
Chanel Deauville met my expectations. I read so many great reviews of it and bought a bottle after only sniffing it in the store. Now I’m wearing it regularly!
Hermes Twilly disappointed me (or I was disappointed by myself!). I find it kind of oppressive.
I am in the US and you may contact me by email. August 3, 2018 at 9:33am Reply

  • Allison C.: Hi,
    Lovely giveaway!

Prada’s Infusion d’Amande exceeded my expectations, lovely almond without being too sweet – perfect! I was disappointed in Pradas Infusion De Rose – I was expecting a green rose with the galbanum but it was too shortlived. I live in the U.S. and can be reached by email. August 3, 2018 at 9:34am Reply

  • Laurie Brown: ‘Joy’ and ‘Le Heure Bleu’ both met my expectations. ‘Opium’ did not- in the 80s, it was mentioned so often in fashion magazines as being worn by the people who were doing all the decadent things, and yet it was just “meh” to me. (the name made it seem very decadent, also!) And, of course. August 3, 2018 at 9:56am Reply

  • Missyl: Thank you! I do live in the US and it’s ok to reach me by email.
I loved Hermès L’ambre des Merivilles and Rubarb Escalade. Twilly and the Chanel Gabrielle did not work for me. August 3, 2018 at 10:07am Reply

  • Audrey: Thank you for the chance to try.
I recently tried Hyrax by zoologist, not my thing. But I loved Moth and Camel. It’s worth a try of this brand. Some of the scents are heavenly. All so different, but created by different artists. Please contact me. August 3, 2018 at 10:33am Reply

  • Audrey Esko: I forgot, I live in the US! August 3, 2018 at 10:35am Reply

  • Heidi: Thanks for the giveaway! I live in the US and can be emailed. Jacomo’s Silences met and exceeded expectations — scratches that green chypre itch for way less scratch than Chanel 19 and others! Biggest disappointment was Envoyage’s Zelda — I was expecting a big old-school chypre, and it was really boring. August 3, 2018 at 10:48am Reply

  • Cody: I recently blindly purchased some of the perfumes from the Elie Saab Les essences line all done by Francis Kurkdjian and I have to say both of them (the oud and gardenia) both more than met my expectations, amazing both of them. Recently tried some of the zoologist and ex nihilo fragrances and none of them were really my thing, thank god they were only samples and not blindly purchased full bottles! I live in the US and can be contacted via email. Good luck everyone! August 3, 2018 at 10:49am Reply

  • Chris Rusak: If surpassing expectations is not only meeting them but also going beyond, than a recent two come to mind: Tauer’s L’oudh, as I am not an oudh-head but this one really knocked me onto my knees with pleasure; and Bruno Fazzolari’s Fontevraud, which made my mouth salivate despite my hesitance toward fruitier fragrances.

Similarly, the last two fragrances to disappoint me (for which I was excited) were: ck2, which is just a horrible disaster of tea and ammoniaic swill to my sensibilities; and Durga’s I Don’t Know What, which makes me look at the price tag and think, “I know what.”

    Los Angeles-based and share/contact away! August 3, 2018 at 11:27am Reply

    • BRENDA BENSON: I’ve got to get my hands on that L’oudh. And one of yours too! August 3, 2018 at 12:17pm Reply

  • Amber Rowan: Chanel Gabrielle met my expectations, which weren’t very high as I’m only familiar with Chanel’s low-end department store offerings. I was disappointed with Cierge de Lune by Aedes de Venustas, which was surprising because I find all of Fabrice Pellegrin‘s work for Agonist quite interesting. You may contact me by email, thank you! • Monica: Thanks Andrea and Victoria for the giveaway!

    1. Neela Vermeire Bombay Bling and Masque Milano L’Atessa met all my expectations

    2. Parle Moi de Parfume Orris Tattoo disappointed me badly.

  • sandra: Wow Wow, how generous of you!

    1. I loved the newer release from Annick Goutal Tenue de Soirée

    2. There is a new niche line called Fo’ah, I have sampled 2 of the 3 and it didn’t meet my expectations.

    3. Yes you can contact me by email August 3, 2018 at 12:59pm Reply

  • Galen: I blind bought Creed’s Cedre Blanc for a very nice price, and oh my lord! It is amazing. I may spring for a back up bottle, as it was quickly discontinued.
I had high expectations of some of the more popular Bond No. 9 fragrances. The ones I got samples of–Scent of Peace for him, Wall Street, Riverside Drive–were so boring and forgettable.
Yes, you may share my email address! Thanks. August 3, 2018 at 1:01pm Reply

  • Nancy A.: Thanks for the giveaway! Not much impresses me nowadays –haven’t much time to fragrance sniff. However, of late Sur L’herbe by L’artisan was a turn on. Admittedly, I’m a classic person.
Email works for me. August 3, 2018 at 1:30pm Reply

  • H: thanks for the giveaway!
    – Maison Margiela Tea Escape has been a lovely fresh summer perfume for me.
    – Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau smelled kind of milky and gross.
OK to contact via email. August 3, 2018 at 1:46pm Reply

  • MMKInPA: I was recently in London and Paris and visited two shops I had been waiting for.

Ormonde Jayne Woman – had tried from a dabber and liked, but loved it sprayed. (And many others from the line as well.)

Parfums de Nicolai Cap Neroli- specifically went in the shop to try this. One of the notes – not sure which- was not good on my skin- it bullied its way forward and wouldn’t go away and let the other notes in. So I didn’t buy (found some other loves, though!)

I am in the US and you may contact me via email! Thank you Andrea! August 3, 2018 at 2:03pm Reply

  • Figuier: Hi Andrew, thanks for your generous giveaway! A scent that lived up to my expectations recently (well, in March) Cloon Keen’s Castana – I came across a review, was intrigued, read a few more reviews, bought a sample, and not soon after went all out for a full bottle. This is *very* unusual for me, I tend to dither. And I wear it a lot now.

Two recent disappoints were the Chanel Exclusifs edp versions of Bois des Iles and Cuir de Russie. I’ve always enjoyed the few samples I’ve owned over the years, and dreamed of maybe one day buying BdI edt. I was looking forward to the edp, a richer version seemed like a nice idea; but I really miss the aldehydic sparkle of the edts.

I am in the UK and you may contact me by e-mail. August 3, 2018 at 2:53pm Reply

    • Figuier: Sorry, autocorrect!! I meant Andrea!! August 3, 2018 at 2:54pm Reply

  • Adriana: I recently tested Ormonde Jayne’s Frangipani, which I’d heard about for years, but never tried, and fell in instant love. Lush and tender and radiant.

I also tried DelRae’s Mythique, and was very sad that it didn’t work for me. I have trouble with iris, so I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised, but I still was. It’s so beautifully constructed, but I couldn’t wait to get it off me. Iris and I — we were never meant to be.

I’m in the US and you may contact me by email! Thanks! August 3, 2018 at 3:12pm Reply

  • kate: thanks for the giveaway! <3

a fragrance that met my expectations was kismet by lubin…an absolutely beautiful perfume. i had gone to scent bar in LA for the 2nd time and decided to try more lubins. i had tried one on my first visit (jade), and it was an insta-love.

one that disappointed me was honour by amouage. i had gone to try the perfume bar in berlin a couple years ago, and tried the drnk based on honour. the drink was great and made me curious about the scent. i've really liked or loved every amouage i've tried so far, so i was disappointed that this one didn't really work for me.

    • kate: i meant lubin black jade! August 3, 2018 at 3:25pm Reply

  • Madaris: A fragrance that met my expectations: Organza Indecence! I had read about Christmas, gingerbread, warmth, & vanilla, and OI delivered!

A fragrance that did not meet my expectations was La Curie Ossuary. It is too untamed and feral; I am fearful to bring it out again!

Email is fine for notification and I Iive in the US of Putin, thanks to tRump & the Rethuglicans. August 3, 2018 at 4:46pm Reply

  • Shelby: 1. Tauer Les Annees 25 met my expectations in the best way! I already loved many of Tauer’s other creations, and had a good feeling I would love Annees too. It was one of my most successful blind buys.

    2. Dark Horse by Dame Perfumery was a bit of a disappointment to me. It sounded so beautiful and I wanted to love it, but I tried it on a hot, muggy day and was really put off by the strong Guiac note.

    3. Please feel free to share my email and contact me if I’m the lucky winner! August 3, 2018 at 4:55pm Reply

  • Stacey: How generous! Thank you Andrea for passing on your samples to us. A recent disappointment was Mon Guerlain, it didn’t live up to what I expect from a Guerlain fragrance and could have been any department store find to my nose. A few pleasant surprises but sort of expected were Tom Ford Vanille Fatale and By Kilian Love the Way You Feel. Both are perfect for summer and lived up to what I expect from those houses. Please feel free to contact me and share my email. I am in the U.S. August 3, 2018 at 10:41pm Reply

    2. Mugler’s Alien. It smelled like a cosmic armpit.

    3. Yes, of course. August 4, 2018 at 4:12am Reply

  • Lara Anderson: I was so disappointed with Chanel Gabrielle! With all the hype it turned out to be a mediocre white floral with poor lasting power. But on the flip side Tauer LADM which I’ve tried three times now finally hit it out of the field and can’t wait to get a bottle. Also after trying Imaginary Authors fragrances many, many times have found 3 that I really like and bought, a favorite, and am considering getting a 4th. Would love to try these Hermes and do live in the US. August 4, 2018 at 8:21am Reply

  • Stacey S.: Thank you for the great giveaway Andrea! A great disappointment to me was Mon Guerlain as it just felt like another dept store fragrance to me and not what I expect from Guerlain. Two fragrances that I really enjoyed lately were Tom Ford Vanille Fatale and By Kilian Love the Way You Feel, both great for summer! Please feel free to share my email and contact me. • Sapphire: First, thank you for the generous giveaway! Two that I found disappointing were Twilly and Coco Noir. One that I dismissed at first because it seemed to disappear too fast was No. 5 l’Eau. Now I own a bottle. You can definitely email me. August 4, 2018 at 1:33pm Reply

  • Mollza: Thanks for the giveaway! Istanbul by Gallivant is such a treat – soft and sweet and so easy to wear. I don’t like any of the Zoologists – the base doesn’t work on me at all. Yes you can email me and I live in the US August 4, 2018 at 4:07pm Reply

Chanel’s Misia did not meet expectations.

  • Nancy Peck: Thanks go to Andrea for generously offering these samples. I would be over the moon to be on the receiving end, if by some miracle i was selected because there isn’t anywhere nearby where I can try the Hermes Hermessences.
    1. Frederic Maple Noir Epices and Le Labo Vanille 44 are two that come to mind that met and exceeded my expectations. Neither of these are new yet they have a timeless quality and i receive a number of compliments when wearing either of them.
    2. The fragrance that disappointed me was D.S. & Durga Rose Atlantic. The notes sounded like everything I would love, but it wasn’t at all!
