Resources to Support Communities Affected by Invasion of Ukraine

EDIT on March 6 2022: This list is constantly evolving, and as my readers are sending me links and suggestions, I will keep on adding the information. If you see anything that needs to be update, please let me know. Please distribute this list as widely as you possibly can so that it can get into the hands of someone who needs it.

Aiding Ukraine and Ukrainians from Abroad

This comprehensive list was sent to me by a friend from my college days. It was compiled by Aleksandr Sklyar ([email protected]), Ph. D. Sociocultural Anthropology (Colgate University, Visiting Assistant Professor of University Studies), Dvorah Southland ([email protected]), and volunteers from the Colgate University community. A full list of resources and charities.

  • Fazal: I cannot imagine your state of mind. If I have learned one thing from wars that have been waged during my lifetime, it is that it is easy to start a war but one cannot never predict the trajectory and duration of the war.

I am also thinking about something I read a while ago. Some dictators last longer than other but most, even those most cunning ones, eventually make a major blunder that leads to their downfall. Putin has seemed infallible since the beginning of his reign and I hope that this Ukraine invasion turns out to be that ‘one major blunder’ that leads to his downfall. March 5, 2022 at 7:00pm Reply

  • Frances: Dear Victoria, this list is impressive and will surely be helpful.

Since you talked so beautifully about Corsica in the past, I just wanted to let you know that people here are really mobilized. They gathered food, clothes and first aid supplies, a first dispatch has left Corsica for Nice a few days ago. They are also collecting medecines and first aids supplies in pharmacies, first in the south, soon in the north. An oncologist who works at Ajaccio’s hospital, Nataliya Khobta-Santoni, has created, with her husband, a crowdfunding to collect money too. She is from Dnipro. She said touching words about Ukraine and Corsica, pointing out that our countries have much values in common. The politicians in charge here have been very vocal about their wish to welcome refugees soon. They were to contact the ukrainian ambassy. I hope it will work for the best and that the people who need and want to come here will find safely their way to our island.

Maybe you have acquaintances or friends over here who kept you updated. however, just in case, I decided to post in the hope it would cheer you up a little bit (I didn’t contact you by email because I’m sure you receive already so many).

    Courage. March 6, 2022 at 6:52pm Reply
