Happy New Year! I hope that your year has started off well, and to make it even more so, today we have an amazing giveaway courtesy to Fabienne. The first wonderful part about it is that Fabienne is giving away a bottle of Chanel Gardénia EDP (200ml, 80% full, no box) and Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia EDP (50ml, sprayed a few times only, no box). As you might know, Velvet Gardenia is no longer possible to find, so this is a particularly precious find. As Fabienne says, “these perfumes were gifts. I wore them and tried to like them, but gardenia is not my style. I don’t want to sell them. I want to give them to someone who will enjoy them. I don’t comment often, but I read every post here and I want to give back to Victoria and this nice community.”
The second great part about this giveaway is that although Fabienne is based in the US, she is willing to ship to the US and EU (she can’t ship outside these two zones due to the expense of shipping.) The EU-based winner must accept to wait till late January to receive their prize when Fabienne goes to Europe to visit her family.

Trudy Hartman: To me the gardenia is the most stunningly beautiful flower there is. I have gardenia plants in the front of my home which start to bloom sometime in April and continue to bloom through summer and into early fall. The intense fragrance is magical and can absolutely make me swoon! Depending on my mood the perfumes which epitomize glamour to me are Chanel Coco, Narcisso Her EDT (black bottle), Marc Jacobs Woman (a beautiful gardenia) and for the past year or so Chanel Riviera. 1. One of the perfumes that is my idea of glamour is Serge Lutens Sarrasins. Sarrasins smells like my idea of a gothic jasmine and is, particularly, suited to cold nights even though jasmine perfumes are usually suited to spring and summer more than colder weather. It is beautiful but also has an element of mystery because I don’t think I have ever smelled a perfume like Sarrasins.

But when I was a young teenager I would go to San Francisco occasionally with my parents and my father always bought me a gardenia to pin on from one of the many corner flower vendors downtown. 1) I immediately had in mind Cartier La Panthère as one of the most glamorous perfumes I know. It’s a perfume you need to be dressed up to wear it, I find. I imagine Eva Green, the sophisticated and intelligent actress, wearing it in the publicity for Jaguar.

1- To me, L’Heure Bleue is the most fascinating and beautiful fragrance ever made and sure it is glamorous but personally I see it more as a poetic master piece. When I think of glamour I think of sophistication, sensuality and mystery…Glamorous fragrances are the sirens of the screen of scents, they are Ava Gardner embodied in a perfume. So I would say: Shalimar of course and Nahema obviously. And of course Coco. May I add, for the sake of collective imagery, Chanel n°5 (big fan of Marilyn Monroe here) even when to my nose it is more elegant than glamorous.
If I win, I’d like to receive Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia. At the risk of sounding fragrantly uneducated, I’ve never smelled a Tom Ford fragrance and I’m willing to change that.

Am I glamorous?
It speaks of golden age of Hollywood bright lights, blonde hair, glittering diamonds, weddings that might never occur but you see them in countless movies-
Thin women cascading down church steps-with with handsome men.
Glamour is understated and again slightly intimidating -beautiful in its design-simple with statement pieces that can take your breath away.
Alluring and again and inaccessible and that is why I’m choosing the Lily as my featured perfume because as a floral note it is not available to Perfumers in nature – it has a noli me tengere must be composed with care -if not it can look and smell very not glamorous and that’s my glamorous Perfume is
