Today we have a generous giveaway courtesy of Madeline. She is giving away a bottle of Robert Piguet Fracas EDP (50ml, sprayed a few times only, box included). Madeline says, “It was a gift, but I don’t wear white florals. I think that it’s a famous and beautiful perfume and I would rather give it away here.”
Madeline can ship only in the US.
Disclaimer: Bois de Jasmin is not responsible for leaks or damage during transit or for lost packages.
Please answer all of the questions below to be entered into the draw. I will create two groups and randomly draw one winner from each.
1. Madeline would like a recommendation from you. What woody perfume can you suggest? It doesn’t have to be a specifically feminine perfume, but she would prefer to avoid anything too sports cologne-like.
2. May I contact you via email to notify you of your win and share your email with Linda?
The contest is now closed. The winner is Angela K. Congratulations! I will contact you shortly.
I would like to thank our entire Bois de Jasmin community for your generosity and kindness, whether it means giveaways like this, advice or comments.

-Woodcut by Olympic Orchids- a really great fresh cut cedar scent.

A) Terre d’Hermes – I feel that this one is unisex and can be layered with other scents very well, making it a versatile woody scent.
B) Atelier Cedrat Envirant – This one has a wonderful, bright and fresh citrus opening that dries down to a not overpowering woody scent. One of my favorites.

Karen A: What a generous giveaway! No need to enter me in the drawing, but wanted to pass on a suggestion. Bois des Iles is such a beautiful scent! I have the extrait, which wears close to the skin but am guessing all formulations are just as lovely. January 20, 2025 at 11:19am
Mindy Grazulis: What a lovely giveaway offer ~ thank you Madeline!! I think you would love the forest floor and woodiness of hemlock in Ormonde Jayne “Woman. She’s seductive with a gentle nudge of jasmine. And yes, of course, you many contact me and share my email!! January 20, 2025 at 11:24am
Melissa Blumer: Oooh, I’ve wanted to try Fracas for YEARS!
1) Ooh, looks like someone beat me to it! Yes, SJP’s Stash was quite outside-the-box for a celebrity perfume. Rather dry, not very sweet, IMO.
Have you smelled any of Tauer’s scents? Several have prominent woody notes…
Give Jo Malone’s Hinoki & Cedarwood a sniff.
2) Yes, you can contact me and share my contact info. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.. January 20, 2025 at 11:34am

Anna Kate: Hi Madeline, I suggest Amyris Femme from Maison Francis Kurkdjian – a beautiful woody floral that is unabashedly feminine, and works across seasons. It’s back in the MFK discovery set for 2025!
Guerlain’s Samsara is also a classic, and a favorite.
Yes, please contact me via email.
I’ve never tried Fracas, and learned about it when finding Madonna’s discontinued Truth or Dare, a similar (perhaps) white floral / tuberose-focused fragrance, that she made in honor of her mother who loved Fracas. January 20, 2025 at 11:53am
Amy K: Hi Madeline! Thank you for doing this 🙂
1. My recommendations are Matière Première’s Bois d’Ébène and Scents of Wood’s Hinoki in Hinoki. Both woody and quite different from each other.
2. Yes, please contact me by email. I’m in the US. January 20, 2025 at 12:15pm
Susie Risser: I am a white floral person with some deviation depending on my mood, so thank you for this (plus, it’s just FUN!!)
Favorite woody scents (I’m female):
1. Maison Margela, Replica By the Fireplace (smoky vanilla cedar in a warm sweater on a fuzzy rug by the cabin’s roaring fire)
2. Mistpouffer by Stora Skuggan (browned sugar in a cold, foggy pine forest)
3. Un Jardin á Cythèrie by Hermès (summer sun in a field of flowers surrounded by olive trees not too far from the ocean)
4. Smoke Show by Vilheim Parfumarie (cedar, leather, saffron with a background of roses – a delicious man bringing you hybrid tea roses)
Yes, of course you could share my contact information; I want to know what scents Madeleine tries and what she thinks of them! January 20, 2025 at 2:05pm
Sadhvi Gantenbein: Oh I’d be so happy to receive Fracas:)
1) For a more woody scent, I would recommend YVES SAINT LAURENT’S OPIUM.
I’ve worn it since the late 80’s, and while its formulation has changed since then, I still like it, especially in the winter.
2) And yes please contact me by email, and share my email with Linda. January 20, 2025 at 12:28pm
Emily: Please feel free to contact me.
As for woody, I can’t stick to one, there’s such a range. For a light & airy wood, really a violet meadow in the middle of an enchanted forest, I recommend Ormonde Woman from Ormonde Jayne. If instead you would prefer ALL THE WOOD ALL THE WAY, I adore Bowmakers from D.S. & Durga. Meant to evoke an early American luthier’s workshop but to me calls up an 80s ballet studio, hardwood floors reformed by toe shoes & a rosin tray in the corner.
For a caramelized wood with a bit of growl, my go to is Amber Loup from Arabia J. January 20, 2025 at 1:03pm
Emily: Ambre Loup from *Rania J
Argh, autocorrect January 20, 2025 at 1:05pm
Natasha: What a generous offer!

Mela: 1. I would second the suggestion of Feminte du Bois. It is really my go to fragrance for just about anything. Also, a very little known fragrance called Canturi produced by the Australian jeweler of the same name.
2. Yes you may absolutely email me. Thank you for offering this great prize. January 20, 2025 at 2:28pm

2. Yes, email is fine! January 20, 2025 at 2:30pm
Tatiana Owen: My favorite woody fragrance is Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles. It’s rather intense and maybe an acquired taste but definitely not sporty or cologney. I also love Calèche which is a little tamer — cedar instead of pine.
You may email me, of course!
[email protected]. January 20, 2025 at 2:55pm
Margie Walsh: I’m not a big woody fragrance fan but I do like Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540.

Aida: I’m currently loving Kilian’s
Angel’s Share
Princess
Good Girl Gone Bad
I agree very much with MFK’s Baccarat 540 and Amyris- they’re both very special scents. Although so many knockoff renditions have been made of the 540- but the original is so special. To the point that it makes me want to hug my sweaters for weeks after it’s been sprayed since the last wear.
I tried it in his sample set and resisted purchasing it for months, but the sweater haunting in my closet made me finally give in and purchase the smallest spray. It brings me pure joy.
Amyris feels more playful to me and I feel giddy when I wear it.
He has two Ouds that I also enjoy but they’re definitely very oudy- I’ll usually put them on as a base and add some rose or something less intense on top.
No need to be entered in the drawing as white florals and I don’t mix well together.
I say this on every post I write here- Serge Lutens Chergui, although more gourmand but still very warm and wintry to me. January 21, 2025 at 12:37am
Tamasin: I wouldn’t wear that white floral either, but I wanted to recommend ORMONDE WOMAN by ormonde Jayne. It’s got black hemlock absolute it for the woody base, but very green and you feel you are in a fantasy forest. (I also like Ormonde Man and unlike its name, neither masculine nor feminine) January 21, 2025 at 1:18am
Madaris: I suggest Tam Dao by Diptyque as a special woodsy fragrance. When I need a winter pick-me-up, such as the day a felon became Pres. of my United States, I reach for this old friend and a spritz of smoky resin and sandalwood helps to revive me.
My email is [email protected] and you may contact me there. January 21, 2025 at 11:33am
OnWingsofSaffron: I suggest Hermès Agar Ébène.
I find it quite wonderful, and elegant.
As I live in Europe, and own a bottle of Fracas, I‘m out. January 21, 2025 at 11:53am
