Christian Dior Grand Bal : New Perfume

Christian Dior is launching a new fragrance in La Collection Privée, Grand Bal. “Grand Bal is an echo of Christian Dior’s great ball gowns, whose full skirts and beauty evoked the petals of a flower in full bloom,” François Demachy, Dior in-house perfumer. It is a classical jasmine blend that includes notes of bergamot, jasmine, Tunisian orange blossom, ylang ylang, New Caledonia sandalwood, and musk. Available from Dior boutiques.

Odin Perfume Pop-up Shop in New York

Niche perfume brand Odin New York will open their first pop-up shop in collaboration with Snarkitecture. The pop up shop will include all six of Odin’s unisex fragrances: 01 Sunda, 02 Owari, 03 Century, 04 Petrana, 06 Amanu, and 07 Tanoke, as well as their four home fragrances in the following scents: 01 Sunda, 02 Owari, 03 Century, and 04 Petrana.

Odin New York Fragrances and Home Fragrances is made up of a complete library of six unisex scents and four candles that evoke the exoticism of travel and a modern approach to time-honored fragrance traditions. The pop-up shop aims to showcase the well-considered design of these products by inverting the darkness of the packaging resulting in a bright, clean space.

Madonna is a Tough Fragrance Client to Please

“Madonna has no patience for stupid people,” said expert perfumer Stephen Nilsen, at the recent London launch of the popstar’s debut perfume [Madonna Truth or Dare]. But as the veteran “nose” discovered, she doesn’t make it all that easy on the clever ones, either… “She told me she wanted white florals, and she loved the ‘addiction’ accord I created,” – a blend of vanilla, caramel and amber. But it was hard to schedule face time with the busy performer, essential when trying to peg a client’s tastes and establish a common vocabulary.”
