Fragrance News: Serge Lutens Chypre Rouge and Yves Rocher Ode a l’amour

Chypre Rouge will join the export line as the newest fragrance from Serge Lutens. Available as Haute Concentration EDP, it will be released in the fall of 2006. Thanks to Cédric of Basenotes.

Yves Rocher is releasing two new fragrances for Valentine’s Day. Ode a l’amour tendrement contains almond, hawthorn, Mirabelle plum, may blossom, musk. Ode a l’amour passionnement is comprised of apple, Szechuan pepper, Mirabelle plum and vanilla. Both fragrances are available from the Yves Rocher website for $9/1oz (special internet offer price). I have not tried these fragrances yet, but I should note that many of Yves Rocher fragrances are very good and are created by famous noses. For instance, the latest Voile d’Ambre was created by Olivier Pescheux and Pur Désir de Lilas (also Lys, Rose, Gardenia and Lavande) were composed by Annick Menardo.

  • malini: I used to wear Yves Rocher Rose. It was one of my favorite fragrances. I will have to try Ode. Thanks for the news. January 23, 2006 at 12:32pm Reply

  • linda: Wow! I had no idea that Annick Menardo did Yves Rocher! Of course, before I started reading your blog, I had no clue about perfume creators. Now I notice these things. 🙂 January 23, 2006 at 1:21pm Reply

  • linda: I got so distracted by the fact that Annick Menardo made YV perfumes that I missed the new release from SL. I am so excited that it is going to be an exported one!!!! January 23, 2006 at 1:27pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Malini, I like Lilas and Lys. They are indeed very good. For the price, I am yet to find a better deal. January 23, 2006 at 1:34pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Linda, I find it very interesting to try and compare fragrances made by one perfumers. Glad that you are finding this information curious as well. January 23, 2006 at 1:36pm Reply

  • Tania: Chypre Rouge?

I am going to try very hard not to freak the hell out with anticipation. Thank you for the news, V. January 23, 2006 at 4:27pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: T, I know! I cannot wait till August-September to try it. January 24, 2006 at 1:28am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Evan, I am with you! I so long for a modern take on chypre that would suit me. Oakmoss is a magical word here! I bet SL would not care about regulations. January 24, 2006 at 1:31am Reply

  • Evan: Yes, the name “Chypre Rouge” makes me grab the arms of my chair rather tightly. I can’t wait. Could it be at last the resurrection of that genre in its classical form? Hell, I’m just thrilled to hear that there will be a perfume named Chypre once more! January 23, 2006 at 9:18pm Reply
