Star rating: 5 stars–outstanding/potential classic, 4 stars–very good, 3 stars–adequate, 2 stars–disappointing, 1 star–poor.

Kate Moss is a personality that stands out in the sleek and gorgeous model milieu. She was the embodiment of the 1990s and its minimalism. She was the face of Calvin Klein. She took on Chanel as the Coco Mademoiselle cover girl. She had her share of controversies and successes. Her style is the most imitated of all models (and it can now be purchased at Barneys under her new clothing label). For those aspiring to more, there is now a fragrance by Moss, simply called Kate.

Star rating: 5 stars–outstanding/potential classic, 4 stars–very good, 3 stars–adequate, 2 stars–disappointing, 1 star–poor.

Kylie Minogue Darling, the debut fragrance from the Australian pop diva, is the latest entrant onto the celebrity perfume scene. Moreover, in the short time that it has been out, according to some sources, it has managed to become the top selling scent in the UK. In other words, Posh Spice beware! Although at one point I defended celebrity fragrances, I have grown bored of the numerous neon-pink, fruity and girly offerings that are lavished upon us by the celebrity fragrance market. Victoria Beckham is Concerned : Perfume Article

Intimatelybeckham

In a rather refreshing insight on the celebrity fragrance trend, Victoria Beckham, the celebrity behind Intimately Beckham for Her, “is worried her new perfume won’t sell – because she doesn’t think people want to smell like her.” Victoria, a former Posh Spice of Spice Girls and a wife of footballer David Beckham, told Now magazine: “I always knew David’s would sell because it’s him. But I wasn’t sure if anyone would want to smell like me.”

Britney Spears : New Perfume in the Fall

Which of her fragrances does Britney Spears prefer? According to WWD, In Control Curious is her favorite. Curious, Fantasy and In Control Curious have done remarkably well, with Elizabeth Arden celebrating more than $300 million in global retail sales this week. Indeed, Arden executives note that the launch of a flanker for Fantasy is being planned for October or November. Other celebrity fragrances are in the works by Arden: Hilary Duff’s scent, expected in September, novelist Danielle Steel’s in October, and Mariah Carey’s next spring.

In an ironic twist, a niche perfume I sampled recently turned out to be similar to a mass market release, and a mass market fragrance reminded me of a niche perfume. The niche perfume in question is Keiko Mecheri Umé, which created for me a distinct first impression reminiscent of Calvin Klein Euphoria. Although Umé lacks the patchouli-amber base, the transparent exotic fruity accord resting on velvety woody notes is very much in the spirit of Euphoria. Except that Euphoria is much more appealing to me, especially given its competitive price points.

However, a surprise was awaiting me in a bottle that looked so disconcerting that it was almost impossible to ignore its poisonous pink and jet black hues. In Control Curious is the latest offering by Britney Spears and a limited edition flanker to the first Curious, a fruity-floral composition of magnolia and pear resting on vanilla musk. …
