Traveling Perfume Box : USA

Our US perfume box is ready to make its next round. If you are in the States and would like to participate, here is how you can do it. And whether you’re participating or not, please read Snowyowl’s perfume descriptions below.

One organizational note: when you’re ready to ship your box onto someone else, please send me the full list of samples in the box and your perfume notes.  Organizing these boxes takes some time, but with your help, it can be much easier.

perfume-wardrobe

How does it work: To enter, please post a comment answer these questions: 1) are you in the USA, and if you’re a winner, can I share your email address with Snowyowl? ; 2) do you agree to pass the box onto someone else within two weeks or so (add a couple of your own samples and share your sampling notes with the rest of us)? and 3) what perfume are you wearing today? I will pick the next person to receive the box via a random number generator. I will announce that person in this spot and contact them via email. Claire is the next person to receive the box.

When a winner is ready to pass the box onto someone else, they should get in touch with me. Please include the full list of samples and your sampling notes (what you’ve discovered, what you’ve liked/disliked, any observations you care to include).

To check the progress of our boxes, please click on the Traveling Sample Box tag.

Parfums Delrae Coup de Foudre- light, airy, greeny- wearable and fresh

Amouage Opus VII- want to be open, but not for me, my instant reaction is sweaty man who needs to shower, but after trying to scrub it off, it might change

Amouage Opus II- like this one slightly better than the vii -aromatic, refreshing, gets lovelier with time on the paper in the room. On me, I needed to scrub(is that urine now?) but might reconsider

By Kilian Beyond love- comforting, sweet, like many things I already have but has been discussed by many, good for me to finally try

Tom Ford Velvet Orchid- decadent, sweet, smells at first like hairspray from the 80’s, I need something drier. It swallows me. but does drydown into something lovelier. not for me.

Aerin Gardenia Rattan- weakish gardenia, not as impressed, I love this note but this isn’t anything spectacular from my point of view

Costume National Scent- I’m liking the neutrality and softness here, tea, amber, hibiscus. Subtle, will see how it wears out. I will try this one.

Roses by Chloe- soft, powdery rose, what you see seems to be what you get.

February 26, 2015 at 6:21pm

  • Karen: Another fun read! Although I’m in the US, please don’t enter me – I’m overwhelmed with all my current samples! Today I’m enjoying my new bottle of L’heure bleue EDP, mixing a few sprays with body lotion and then later a few sprays. February 26, 2015 at 7:17pm

    • angeldiva: Hi Karen!
Glad you are loving the L’heure Bleue!
Yes, V, I’m in California, and you can share my email with Snowyowl. I will respect the shipping time frame, add my notes, add some thrilling samples, and be very grateful if I’m chosen!
Today I’m wearing L’occitane Verbena Extract. It’s my most versatile layering scent. Last night I layered it under O de Lancome- amazing.
But, today I’m wearing it alone, and it reminds me of the joy of buying a bottle of Loves Fresh Lemon as a teen:)
Also, may I share a recent layering discovery? After reading the review of Jessica Simpson Fancy Nights, I invested less then $5. for a 1oz. of perfume.
Well, it is one of the rare well rated perfumes that just wouldn’t work on me. So, I went to Whole Foods, and purchased a vial of essential oil. It’s a Patchouli- Amber mix. After spraying the Fancy Nights- I layer a generous amount of the oil over it.
Now it smells exactly like my late mothers favorite smell – wet potting soil! It really smells amazing ,and I salvaged a bottle of perfume! Go Team!

I have amassed so many new scents lately, you can ask me anything.

      Thank-you!

  • Katherine: Greetings. I’m in the US, happy to share my email address, will ship the samples in ~2 weeks, add some samples, and share my notes (for better or worse). Today I’m wearing Cartier’s Baiser Vole – Essence de Parfum… a sweet warm vanilla for a snowy day. Cheers! February 26, 2015 at 9:00pm

  • Jeanne R.: I live in the USA. I am willing to pass on my e-mail address per your request. I will pass the box on within 2 weeks. To combat the sub-zero temperatures here in Ohio and give me a lift from the grey that is winter, I’m wearing Sisley’s Eau de Campagne edt. Crazy? Maybe. But, I need the hope that spring is coming and summer is sure to follow! February 26, 2015 at 9:22pm

  • angeldiva: Hi Jeanne,
….here are some good vibrations from Los Angeles ! Wishing to you the promise of sunshine to come, along with swimmingly good cheer- and, hopeful rainbows of faith!
Peace be with your spirit February 26, 2015 at 9:42pm

    • Jeanne R.: Hello, angeldiva, and thank you for your kind welcome and good vibrations. I like your suggestions and the fragrances you mentioned in a couple of posts above. I am a L’Heure Bleue woman as well. I bought my edp bottle in 2015–had my last one 10 years ago. My license plate even names it for all to see (abbreviated, of course). You mentioned layering, and one of my favorite pairings is Rose (Stella) with Kiehl’s musk. Stella always seemed to be missing something, and the Kiehl’s gives it a certain edge. February 26, 2015 at 9:52pm

      • angeldiva: Wow, Thanks! February 26, 2015 at 10:07pm
