Fragrance News: Beautyhabit Code, L’Occitane Eau d’Iparie, Yves Rocher Voile d’Ambre

A new fragrance from L’Occitane has debuted already. It is called Eau d’Iparie, and it is based on incense, myrrhe, rose and pepper (thanks to Tracey).

A new fragrance from Yves Rocher, Voile d’Ambre, offers an ambered oriental composition. The notes include green mandarin, cardamom; incense, myrrh, opoponax, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla.

Its creator, Olivier Pescheux has been working for Givaudan for the past seven years. In creating Voile d’Ambre, he layered the base of amber and incense with sparkling spice notes. Yves Rocher provides a very well-documented overview of the creation of Voile d’Ambre, from the history of amber to the perfumer’s story on its website (in French).

Beautyhabit is offering 25% off every purchase and free signature deluxe sample pack with the code dailycandy. The offer is good till 10/18.

  • janaregina: Eau d’Iparie is stunning! It also has notes of patchouli, vanilla and moss. It brings to mind a young gypsy woman picking wild roses, then offering them on the altar of a small stone church, somewhere among the rocks of Spain or southern France. Unusual, spicy, feminine and very long lasting. October 5, 2005 at 1:07am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: T, your description is wonderful! You certainly piqued my interest mentioning moss as one of the notes. Incense and oakmoss is a combination that immediately conjures visions of old churches and dilapidated mansions. For some reason, that really appeals me. October 5, 2005 at 2:07am Reply

  • Tania: Amber is so in. I wonder if the Yves Rocher is any good? I’ve been meaning to try some of their fragrances; I liked a couple of their simple florals (lavande, lilas) but didn’t know where to start with their more complicated scents. October 5, 2005 at 10:32am Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: T, some of Yves Rocher fragrances are very nice. Under Scent of A Man, benvenuta posted about a masculine fragrance that sound wonderful. I also had a few soliflores, which were very well-done. Their skincare range is excellent and reasonably priced. I recall a small Yves Rocher counter in what was essentially a pre-communist demise, post-perestroika, but still very Soviet Kiev, and it was a breath of fresh air. My mom wore their peony based fragrance, which I loved. October 5, 2005 at 10:46am Reply

  • Sonia: Hello V..I complimented my mom recently on this new scent,Voile d’Ambre and found it to be so pretty and soft, the patchouli doesn’t take over the other lovely notes. October 24, 2006 at 2:21pm Reply
