By Kilian Asian Tales Water Calligraphy and Bamboo Harmony are now in stock at Aedes.com and Saks Fifth Avenue. Both fragrances were created by perfumer Calice Becker. As by Kilian press release explains, the Asian Tales collection “was first conceived as an olfactive voyage, yet soon transformed into a spiritual journey as meanings behind symbols and words became increasingly significant and relevant. As the creation took shape, every detail was placed with careful attention and with the intent to pay homage to this great culture.”
Water Calligraphy includes notes of grapefruit, reseda, water lily, jasmine sambac, magnolia, cardamom, and vetiver. “It pays homage to water, the essential element of calligraphy. Its precise dosage allows for all the shades and nuances that make calligraphy an Art in Asia. Water Calligraphy is the olfactive impression of an aquatic flower sitting next to a pond of water lilies.”
Bamboo Harmony features notes of bergamot, bitter orange, neroli, white tea leaves, mimosa, spices, yerbamate, fig leaves, and oakmoss. “Bamboo Harmony pays homage to Bamboo, considered by the “Men of Letters” as the symbol of human perfection. It is also the main component of their brush, the central element of calligraphy which, in Chinese culture, is the representation of Art and Beauty. Bamboo Harmony is the olfactive impression of a subtle sip of white tea taken in the heart of a bamboo.”
Maybe this is old news, but as I was browsing by Kilian’s website, I noticed that the house ventured into the accessories territory with a line of evening bags named after the perfumes in the L’Oeuvre Noire collection: Invitation, Surrender, Aphrodisiac, Prohibited and Don’t Be Shy. I don’t usually carry clutches, but some (such as black beaded Aphrodisiac, pictured) look pretty.
