Gucci has launched a new fragrance called Gucci Première. It was inspired by the couture gowns from the Gucci collection shown at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival. Created by perfumer Nathalie Lorson, Gucci Première is a soft floral perfume, and it includes notes of bergamot, orange blossom, blackberries, leather, myrrh, fur accord, patchouli, sandalwood, and musk.
According to Gucci creative director Frida Giannini, “For such a successful woman, something equally remarkable was required. Gucci Première is womanly, intriguing and as seductive as the perfect couture gown.” The ad campaign is fronted by Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively.
Gucci Premiere is now available in the UK at Selfridges, with the worldwide launch being planned for September.

I cannot stand Blake Lively so this fragrance is already not faring well for me.

Lynn Morgan: Sounds like it is trying a little too hard to be all things to all people….blackberries? Why must everything have a fruit note theswe days? There is nothing sexy or alluring about the produce department of my local Ralph’s! As for the fur accord… I happen to find the scent of wet dog very comforting in context ( warmth, security, nurturing, bonding with my pet etc.- I am a devoted dog person) but I can’t say I want to drip in into my cleavage before an night on the town. As for Blake Lively- love Gossip Girl- the guilty pleasure of all of us aging preppies- love her personal style and don’t hate on her just because she’s impossibly tall, impossibly thin and improbably blonde- she didn’t do it on purpose. L.: I tried this only briefly and not on skin, but was surprised by it’s lack of what seems today to be obligatory sweetness – actually, the muskiness reminded me of Tom Ford’s musk collection and not laundry musk at all. So I can’t comment on whether it smells cheap b/c I really didn’t spend the time with it but it does smell at least at the outset like an honest unsweetened musky accord.
I also found it hilarious that the carded tester eschews the above list of notes in favor of simply “Woody Musky/Boise Musque.”
