New Olivia Giacobetti Candle and Room Spray for Bottega Veneta

Bottegaveneta_candle

Olivia Giacobetti creates her second candle for Bottega Veneta under the label of L’Artisan Parfumeur. Called Intreccio no. 2, the candle evokes the scents of the Tuscan countryside with its mélange of basil and woods. The candle is also available in the room spray.

The first candle by Olivia Giacobetti for Artisan Parfumeur-Bottega Veneta, Intreccio no. 1 has been released as a room spray, and is priced at 40 euros for 50ml. The fragrance is suppose to conjure a library in an old Venetian house with its blend of leather, woods and freshly cut hay.

The candles are available at Bottega Veneta and L’Artisan Parfumeur boutiques. Intreccio no. 1 can be ordered from Bergdorf Goodman as well as directly from L’Artisan. Thank you to Mike for the information!

  • MC: Victoria,

I checked them out on Friday as promised. Intereccio 2 (candle) is intensely peppery basil with tomato leaf and grass notes. Green, but spicy with it. Mossy undertones. A little like Eau de Campagne or a mix of two other Artisan candles – the tomato leaf one and the basil one, surprisingly enough! I think it’s better than these two, though. More concentrated, with a spicy complexity not often found in candles.

I tried the sprays on my skin and as oozing weals have not yet appeared I think it is safe enough to wear them as perfume. Interaccio 1 is wonderful, as you might expect: The closest scent I can compare it to is Annick Goutal’s Duel, though with more iris, smoky tea and none of that wishy-washy musc in the drydown. It’s earthy, wet, smoky – really beautiful. It doesn’t last very long, it is a room spray after all. I wish Olivia Giacobetti could be persuaded to release this as a perfume.

2 is excellent too, and very close to the candle. Basil, rosemary, tomato leaf and grass dominate, and there’s a nice mossy drydown reminiscent of Frederic Malle’s Vetiver savon. November 27, 2005 at 4:03pm Reply

  • BoisdeJasmin: Mike, thank you very much for this fantastic report. Needless to say, both are on my wishlist now. Your comment about Intereccio 1 being like Duel without the wishy-washy drydown is exactly what swayed me. I like Duel, but I find it too subtle. I do hope that Olivia shall do another fragrance for L’Artisan very soon. November 27, 2005 at 6:09pm Reply
